Another great floating museum is the aircraft carrier Hornet. The Hornet is not the same ship that started World War II as the USS Hornet, that carrier was sunk in 1942 in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. The original Hornet was the ship that Doolittle launched his bombing raid on Japan from. This USS Hornet was originally named the USS Kearsarge, but was renamed in honor of the original Hornet after it was sunk. This is the ship that is now the floating museum. An amazing fact about this ship is that more people have reported paranormal happenings on this ship than on any other ex-military ship.
