Hi All

Can somebody please clarify why we were relying on Su30s or any other IAF aircrafts Air to Air missile to fend off the f16s.

The whole world always discuss india pakistan boarder as one of the most heavily guarded or militarized zones. How come we dont have any SAM sites there. Or SAM not good enough to target high altitude fighters? Or SAMs are dangerous that it might hit our own planes?

We have already placed order for S 400 long range SAM from Russia. It is the best SAM in the world.

HVT confirmed, no chance of engone replacement. AL-41 didn't impress or some other reason, I can't say.

“Fuel guzzler” yea okay buddy check the specific fuel consumption numbers and compare it to newer engines like the F100-PW-229.

The specific fuel consumption is 24 tons in an hour at full afterburner by a single AL31 on Su30,it is better than the PW engine on F15s and F16s...for the context,a GEF404 AT full AB consumes 17 tons of fuel...

I think engine is okay. It gives sukhoi powerful maneuverability. What is needed is longer range AAMs that can exploit radar's long range capabilities.

That's not quite right. We don't make complete engine in India. Some crucial parts are still imported from Russia. Nonetheless irrespective of that we are very much dependent on Russia for spares.

What is with you man. The su30s were inducted in early 2000s. The iAf chief is not an idiot to say something like that about su 30s capability.

There were Two procurements one was in 1990s in which we bought SU-30 from Russia without india specific update and the next one was post 2002 in which india created a package to build SU-30 in india with western and Israeli avionics.

Air superiority aircraft like SU-30 F-15 have capability to carry higher amount of payload compared to other fighters this capability can be used to arm jet with different types of jammers and missiles is there any other aircraft in IAF fleet which can carry nuclear capable super sonic missile?
Bhramos have potential to even destroy enemies SAM system.

The fact is the kept the su30 at bay by firing a bunch of missiles at dmax. That’s all.

You have any other 21st century presentation in which 5 jets destroyed 25 jets? Or came back alive after slipping into enemies trap? If radars and all was not working it would have been possible but it's not the case.
