The first contract for the delivery of the Su-57 was signed.

The first contract for the supply of 12 fighters of the fifth generation of the Su-57 was signed, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said. They must be transferred to the army in 2019, RIA Novosti reported.

The state order is carried out by the aircraft factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

The official added that the tests of the Su-57 with the engine of the second stage are still going on.

The fighter took off for the first time in 2010, tests were conducted in the Far East. In February 2018, the Su-57 launched cruise missile launches in Syria.

Fifth gen fighters are just like snipers in an infentery army team, so they cannot manned all the entire airforce so is their small numbers among other fighters in the intelligent airforce in the world. Modern fifth gen fighters are all about high end sensors, supercruise and stealth. Western countries have edge over their Russian counterpart in these areas. In terms of jet engine also Russians are legging. However, it seems like they are closing these gaps of late especially due to su57 and it's new engine called as item 30. But how much is the gap is remain to be seen.

Well in this case, other source says it is still not clear if new engine is coming, possibly old engine.
Item-30 is also in testing from December 2017 on T-50-10 and these will complete trails by this year end.... but not the production models. full integration only after 2020...

To be happy with the first contract for the Su-57 early.

The first long-awaited contract for the supply of the Ministry of Defense of the fifth generation of Su-57 fighters is concluded. The first batch of serial aircraft of the Defense Ministry is expected to be received next year. Equipping the Russian military with the newest combat vehicle leads Russia to the highest world league. But is it really true?

"To date, everything is ready to conclude a contract for the supply of two Su-57 aircraft, which are completing the final stages of testing. The aviation complex, including taking into account the tests in Syria, fully confirmed the given characteristics, "said Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko.

According to him, the aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur carries out state defense orders without delay, including the creation of the Su-57. "The enterprise does a great job," Krivoruchko said, adding that the tests of the Su-57 with the second-stage engine are now continuing.

"The first batch of serial aircraft of the Defense Ministry expects to receive as early as next year, the relevant contract is being prepared for signing," he added. Speech, apparently, is already on the supply of a batch of 12 cars in 2019, which was mentioned earlier.

The conclusion of the long-awaited contracts for the fifth generation of Russian fighters is the most important event. It is the Su-57 should replace the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, which now fly the military. After all, they entered service in the 1980s.

Su-57 is Russia's response to the United States, which has been using the F-22 for more than a decade. The cost of an American fighter at the same time is three times more than Russian - $ 150 million against 50 million.

Many, including the Germans and the Americans themselves, believe that the Russian fighter has a greater advantage in combat than the American rivals F-22 and F-35. It surpasses competitors in maneuverability, speed and altitude of flight, in equipping with missiles and range of destruction. In addition, the Su-57 is almost invisible.

Honored test pilot, Hero of Russia Magomed Tolboyev told RIA Novosti that the majority of the know-how in the Su-57 is not disclosed for security reasons. "It implements the most advanced technologies and what is shown to the general public is only a surface, the rest is known only to us - professionals, testers, military leaders of the country," he noted.

However, he disclosed the secret of one of these know-how. According to him, no one else in the world - neither France, nor England, nor Rolls-Royce, nor Pratt & Whitney - did not achieve that the aircraft flew at cruising supersonic speeds (1600 kilometers per hour) in a non-skipper mode. While the Su-57 can develop a cruising speed "at face value".

And yet is it not too early to be happy about concluding the first contract for two planes, and then for 12 cars? In fact, there are still many problems.

First, 12 such aircraft are clearly not enough to create a real new combat power. "Under the USSR, a" supply party "was considered one hundred or more aircraft. Now two aircraft have been called "the party of cars". If you look at the number of MiG-15s, 17, 19, 21 produced, then each type of car was produced in thousands. The same Tu-16 was one and a half thousand. A 12 (Su-57) - this is generally (yet) about anything. At least three or four regiments equipped them, then we could rejoice, "a high-ranking source close to the leadership of the Russian Air Force told VZGLYAD.

The second question, he said, is who will fly on these fighters, if there is only one school of military pilots in the country. It clearly does not cope with the training of military pilots now. At the end of 2016, the Russian Air Force did not have 1,300 pilots, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"Moreover, the first hundred cars will go off as installation, in it all cars are different, because the design of the aircraft is continuously being changed. For example, in the same Lipetsk, all the Su-34 differ from each other by some refinements, "says a high-ranking source.

In addition, the most important and heaviest in terms of development part - the heart of the aircraft - is not yet ready. The engine of the second stage for the Su-57 is still being tested. The first 15-minute flight of a fighter with this engine took place only in December 2017. There is still a lot of work and tests ahead.

Meanwhile, the Su-57 in the first contracts will be delivered with the engines of the first stage, and this is a big difference. It is thanks to the newest engine of the second stage, "Type-30" (or "Product-30"), the aircraft will be able to make long flights at supersonic speed without afterburner. Just the absence of this engine was one of the arguments of those who refused to call the Su-57 fighter a fifth-generation car.

The issue of using the old-style engine became the main thing in the case of India's refusal to enter into a contract with Russia for the purchase of the Su-57, although later they wrote about this decision with regret in the Indian media.

Thus,

to rejoice in the first modest contract early. The plane is still damp, it will take a lot of effort, money and time to bring it to mind and make it a real fighting force.

But Russia is already too tight with the implementation of this project. "From the beginning of the development of this or that machine to the embodiment of it in a metal passes 10-15 or more years. And it is largely obsolete in many ways in the process of this work. And with our tightening of the release of machines, this obsolescence is already taking on critical dimensions, "the interlocutor worries.

The program to develop a fifth generation fighter started 17 years ago - in 2001. Flight tests were planned for 2006-2007. However, the first test flight of the Su-57 was completed a few years later - in 2010. Supplying the aircraft to the troops wanted to start as early as 2014-2015. Then the start of serial production and serial shipments was shifted to the beginning of 2016. Now it is about 2019. Thus, the implementation of the project lags behind at least four years from the initial plan. And if we consider that the installation of the second-stage engines on the Su-57 is planned only in 2023-2025, then we can talk about a delay for a whole decade.

A jet that was developed to detect stealth jets, thus SU57 detecting F35 is not a surprise, in-fact it's exactly what's expected of the jet. To understand the gravity of the covert operations in syrian airspace, it shocking on the first place that two SU57 jets were deployed right when they are supposed to be reached into production.

This gives two indications, first Russians want to take risk and second Russians believe in there product, that's much cheaper than the two stealth jets in operation in the world, making it a good reputation builder among nations who want to purchase there product.

I'd say a game well played.

RUSSIA WILL ABANDON THE SU-57?

06 July 2018, 19:33

Today, the curator of the defense complex and the head of the defense commission of the State Duma said that it is not necessary to force the serial launch of the Russian version of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57. The head of the parliamentary commission for the defense complex, Vladimir Gutenev, said:

"The Su-57 will not be massively purchased in the interests of VCS. But the car has a wonderful export potential, many countries would like to acquire it."

Serial launch of new aircraft planned to launch as early as 2016. Russian design bureaus have been developing a war machine for over 16 years, and the costs for the "Russian response of the F-35" are billions of dollars.

According to the official version at the initial stage of production, about 30 billion rubles were invested in the project, and later as much as 60 billion, about 3 billion dollars. Additional funding is unknown, since most of the information on the aircraft is classified.

The American analogue - the fifth-generation fighter - the F-35, cost the US $ 55 billion, the real figures of Russian development, if inferior to the American, it is not much. It has already become clear that the Su-57 is a loud failure.

The car fails the tests for stealth for enemy radars and can not match the declared performance due to the weak performance of the first-stage engine that is installed on the aircraft.

Serial production of machines with characteristics at least comparable to those announced is expected not earlier than 2023, and the Russian Defense Ministry begins to understand that the project will have to be rolled off in the near future. India, China and its own Ministry of Defense refused to purchase Russian fighters.

Sir, the red color part tells the story.

:dude: It is not a failure, it is an achievement. They did it in a friction of cost.

India may end Rs 2 lakh crore 5th generation fighter jet programme with Russia

Updated: Jul 08, 2018, 13:58 PM IST
Source: PTI

India has conveyed to Russia its unwillingness to go ahead with the joint development of a fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) primarily due to high cost involved in the project, official sources said.

They, however, said the negotiations between the two countries on the much ambitious project have not yet been shelved as India was ready to have a re-look at co-development of the jet if an appropriate cost sharing formula between the two countries was arrived at.

India and Russia had signed an inter-governmental agreement for the mega project in 2007, vowing to take the military ties between the two strategic partners to the next level. However, the project has been stuck for the last 11 years as there have been serious differences between the two sides on sharing cost of developing the jet, technologies to be used in it and number of aircraft to be produced.

The sources said the cost of the project has been estimated at around USD 30 billion or Rs 2 lakh crore.

"Our position on various aspect of the project, including the cost component, has been conveyed to the Russian side and there has been no resolution to the issues yet," a top official involved in the negotiations with the Russia over the project said.

In December 2010, India had agreed to pay USD 295 million towards the preliminary design of the fighter jet. Later, both sides had expressed intent to contribute each USD 6 billion for final design and production of the aircraft in the first phase. However, they could not come out with a final agreement on it.

"We have not closed our door on the project," the sources said.

It is learnt that India was insisting on equal rights over the technology to be used in the aircraft but Russia was not ready to share all the critical technologies of the plane with New Delhi.

In the negotiations for the project, India had insisted that it must get all the required codes and access to critical technology so that it can upgrade the aircraft as per its requirements, sources said.

In February 2016, both the countries had revived talks on the project after a clearance from then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Sources said both sides were attempting to thrash out the sticky issues but added that India was not optimistic that the project will fructify due to cost involved in the project.

Interestingly, state-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is strongly pitching for the fifth-generation fighter jet project. The HAL feels the multi-billion dollar project will provide India a significant opportunity to encourage its aerospace sector as no country has ever offered such critical technologies to India.

There have been indications from the Indian Air Force that it was not very keen to pursue the project in view of the high cost.
