lol...so called ruler of this 'small satellite launcher' catalogue

an almost all solid rocket laucher with a lift-off mass: 120 ton
Launch ability : 300kg @ 500km SSO

reference counterpoints:
1. KZ-1A mentioned above
lift-off mass: 30 ton ...250kg @ 500km SSO & 200kg @ 700km SSO
2. CZ-11
lift-off mass: 58 ton ...350kg @ 700km SSO
---------------------------------
forget about Falcon 9 which is the incomparable thing for different purpose.

KZ-1A cost is $20,000/kg , SSLV - 8000 / kg

was curious about the lift off mass diff , apparently its due to more fuel needed to do a turn manoeuvre in order to avoid flying over sri lanka

Agni V has similar lower dimensions and weight , and can carry 1 T , i know its an ICBM but wonder y we cant use its motors / fuel

--------------

:hmm: just did a quick look at what US,Japanese and other rockets cost , SSLV seem to be significantly cheaper.

KZ rocket family as whole whole holds the list og even heavy and super heavy rocket as well. Weight to payload efficiency depends upon India's capabilities, ability to launch military payloads in during emergency period what makes it common for Minotaur, Start, Kuizhaou and what India can gain from SSLV.

That's so kind of you the li'l shiny troll. I didn't even know that Falcon 9 is not comparable and is for a different purpose just as Epsilon, Proton-M & Saturn-V.

This thread is about a bloody small sized commercial rocket.

Ya'll Nibbiars most of the lifting capabilities stated for the SSLV was misquoted. The XPoSat weights 500 kg and will have a lowest Orbit of 500 kg. By the way the lifting cability of the SSLV could be greater than anywhere between 500 to 1000 Kg for the 200 LEO.

The only figure that actually matters is cost per Kg to orbit. At 4 million USD a pop the SSLV would be cheaper than any of the other small satellite launchers currently available.

Ground testing of Solid Booster Stage (SS1) for Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)
The ground testing of the newly developed solid booster stage (SS1) for the new launch vehicle of ISRO i.e. Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) was carried out today, March 14 2022 at Satish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota at 1205 hrs.
All the propulsion parameters during the test are found satisfactory and closely matching with the predictions.
SS1 motor is a three segmented solid propulsion stage incorporating many new technologies and innovative processes which includes bond-free joint between the segments, high power electro mechanical actuator with digital control electronics, optimized ignitor and simultaneous propellant casting of all segments, which have been successfully validated in the ground test.
The successful test of solid booster stage has given sufficient confidence to proceed with the first developmental flight of SSLV (SSLV-D1) which is scheduled in May 2022. The remaining stages of SSLV i.e. SS2 & SS3 stages have successfully undergone necessary ground tests and are ready for integration.

Another Chandrayaan-3 test done on Sunday; SSLV launch planned for August
Artistic impression of the lander
BENGALURU: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), which has lined up a series of tests this year before it launches Chandrayaan-3 — expected only in 2023 — completed a key test on the lander on Sunday.
According to a senior Isro official overseeing the mission, Chandrayaan-3 launch is expected only in 2023 even as “the project is making significant progress with tests yielding good results.
“Things are going well and all tests have yielded good results. On Sunday night we performed a hanging condition simulation to test low-gravity condition, engine firing and camera. All parametres were as planned. However, there are still a lot of tests to be carried out and the mission is only expected next year,” the official said, refraining from spelling out the specifics owing to the ongoing Parliament session.
As first reported by TOI, Chandrayaan-3, unlike Chandrayaan-2 will not be carrying an orbiter as part of the mission — it’ll only have a propulsion module (PM) carrying the lander and rover until separation. While the PM will not carry any primary payload, another official said: “It will have equipment that’ll be used to communicate with the lander and the ground station. The PM will be used to relay information.”

Isro, which failed to soft-land Vikram (Chandrayaan-2 lander) which was carrying Pragyan (rover) in September 2019, is carrying out exhaustive tests for Chandrayaan-3. “Failure is not an option this time. The chairman has made it very clear that we need to test and retest until we are sure of everything on ground before moving ahead for launch preparations,” a scientist said.
SSLV First Mission
The space agency is also awaiting clearance for the launch of the first Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), a technology demonstrator mission of which is expected in the coming weeks. While Isro is confident of an August launch, the final date, an official said, “was yet to be decided”. “We are looking at August, but it may not happen in the first few days.”
Isro has done extensive testing of the SSLV, with the key ground testing of the newly developed solid booster stage (SS1) also having been completed. This test was considered the last major test before the tech-demonstrator mission.
The SSLV will have more than one technology demonstrator mission before it can be used as a mainstream launcher. Once that is achieved, Space PSU NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is also looking at utilising the rocket for commercial missions.

Usually with these NOTAMs, the earlier limit is closer to the actual launch date, than the later one. So August 4th ( or very soon after) is more likely to be the day of launch, than say August 25th-30th. JMO
Slowly it will move to Aug 15, to mark the Independence day
Just check the forecast on BOB. Till 7th it is showing thunderstorm. Only after 8th we are getting few hours of clear sky.

NOTAM gets cancelled to facilitate the flyover of flights thru that area. You don't keep a commercial air space closed for no reason.
A new NOTAM, this time from 7th August to 10th for SSLV. August 15 launch can be ruled out now.

And a minimum of 110 tonnes, could be 120 or 130 tonnes( different media reports). Somewhere in that range. Hope there will soon be revelations about the new designs, new/modified subsystems in the vehicle.
