You are correct but 5.56mm is evolving :)

I made a thread some time back, But no one commented there, Anyways i am posting the content here for you and other so does its link ========>>>>

Mk 262 77-grain 5.56mm ammunition

Kunal I remember reading a year back, that the British forces in Afghanistan were handed this 5.56 ammo.
They were not impressed. Feedback was that some talibs would still be walking after taking hits, as if nothing happened :(
I do hope it evolves into something better than what the British felt.

I am extremely disappointed by the fact that nothing is done in improving the accuracy of a 7.62x39mm bullet where as its western counterpart is getting loot and lot better:(
Plus the paki general with the modified G3 with all those add ons makes me extremely jealous.Consider what we had done in our INSAS.

The Izhmash gun plant has presented its new sniper rifle VS-121 designed in a bullpup configuration. Based on the classic Dragunov model and upgraded with modern design features, it is to become a 'principally new' Russian-made sniper rifle.

The new rifle is fitted with an up-to-date trigger and firing mechanism, and is compatible with 7.62×54mm and 7.62×51mm shells, as well as with "advanced new ammunition currently developed by the Izhmash design-engineering center specialists," the statement issued by the Izhevsk Machinebuilding Plant (Izhmash) said on Monday.

The VS-121 rifle comes with improved action, and is equipped with suppressor and Picatinny rail for mounting various optoelectronic devices. According to Izhmash's Chief Designer Vladimir Zlobin, the new rifle is "compact and light," its weight being 4.5kg. It is currently undergoing comprehensive factory tests.

The bullpup design is the new rifle's prominent feature. Placing the gun's action and magazine behind the trigger permits a shorter firearm length without the need of shortening the barrel and improves weapon's maneuverability. It is particularly popular with special task forces, which are major clients of Izhmash in Russia.

Although bullpup modifications are not something new for Russian firearms, and include already employed Dragunov sniper rifle model SVU, it is the first time the world-famous AK-47 assault rifle manufacturer has stepped aside from conventional firearm design. The latest incarnation of the iconic Kalashnikov rifle – AK-12 – has been designed in a classic AK-47 layout, and is about to undergo official state tests in June.

Founded in 1807, Izhmash is Russia's leading maker of assault and sniper rifles, cannon-launched guided projectiles, as well as sporting guns and machine-tools. The plant exports its produce to 27 world countries, including the USA, the UK, and Germany.

Nayvis-34 red dot sight

This is the Nayvis-34 red dot sight sold by my friends at Circle 10 AK (https://www.facebook.com/4circle10ak). The Nayvis-34 is made in Russia and is similar in performance to the well known Kobra sight, only the Nayvis-34 is about 1/2 the price. The Nayvis-34 is also weaver/1913 rail compatible. The housing is all aluminum and it has no plastic parts -- its suitably rugged. The sight features 5 different reticles that are easily selected with a button. The 32mm screen is big and very easy to use. It runs on a single CR2032 battery with about 50 hours of run time. So far I've been very pleased with the performance of the Nayvis-34. The price is $189.00. Stay tuned for a video review.

I personally like Big size open red dot sights, Given they are reliable and rugged and i must have a large rail mount for it ..

Russian PO 3.5x21P optic

Russian PO 3.5x21P optic, Mounted on my AK74. 3.5x magnification, CR123 battery illuminated . This optic is specific only to the AK74 shooting 5.45..

This scope is illuminated by the flip of a switch. Everything you see on the reticle turns bright red.

Comes for P-RAIL too..
PO 3.5x21P is a modern optic produced by BelOMO -- Belorusskoe Optiko-Mechanichesckoye Obyedinenie (Belarus Optical & Mechanical Enterprise) in Minsk, Belarus. It is designed to be similar to the ACOG but with a breath-takingly wide wide field of view that so far no other Russian optic has matched.

Optical clarity is extremely high and in my opinion is one of the brightest and clearest optics I've used...the image quality is very impressive. It is also one of the easiest scopes to zero due to the reticule design. Like many Russian scopes, the PO 3.5 has a 1.5m range finder for estimating distance to a standard height target but uncommonly it also has a 0.5m scale for prone targets as well. The PO 3.5 has not been adopted by the Russian or Belarus armed forces. While this is probably the heaviest optic I've used at 2.2lbs (outside of the NSPU of course, 5lbs), the weight penalty is somewhat offset by the amazing field of view and the high glass quality.

The PO comes in a few versions - illuminated and non illuminated models as well as a variety of caliber specific types. Like many of the modern Russian and BelOMO designed optics PO 3.5 has no turrets to adjust for elevation or windage, the intent is to zero the weapon based on the 400m concept and then use the additional range chevrons for longer distances if necessary. There is no need to adjust anything when shooting, the rifleman only has to aim COM out to 400m and will have a reasonable chance to hit.

5-shot group @ 100 yards using the PO 3.5x21P optic
