a certain Motor City Armaments making their own ;modular; variants of AR-15, where upper receiver is parted in two sections, one being actual upper receiver and other part just slides above it and acting as top cover + handguards + rails etc all

Motor City Arms Illiad in assembled configuration, ready to fire

and separated handguards+top cover and rest of the rifle, notice how it just slides off from front and actual upper receiver is keeping entire thing together

and then there is another improved version from this, Odysseey, where Upper Handguard itself is a hollow shell to house entire upper receiver+bolt carrier assembly+barrel and gas system assembly inside, which you can hinge open and swap with another one to switch barrel lengths and/or calibres alike!
as demonstated here in this vdo

Just imagine this is the stage where a 60+ years older design like Stoner's Armalite is standing, and yet bare basics are still same between your AR15 from that era to this one...truly AR design is a genius one

Well worth downloading the app and watching (2 episodes so far). Sandeep is amongst the best Indian defence journalists around.

happy to see INSAS still living on in some form and the design being refined to this day, if only IA had done this themselves and not sought to ditch the thing Literally from 20+Years ago.

So many Indian small arms now but still so few orders just RFIs and junk in service
