Pakistan govt, Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistanis worry much about their national prestige, image and name.

Hence, they live in a state of denial.

They think they are pure and they want to live it up in delusion while working hard to hone their impure thoughts and deeds!
do you think it just the image and name are the only reason for pakistans denial ....

don't you think PCB herself is involved and fears that these players can open their mouth ...

An Aussie newspaper is pointing fingers at an Indian player during IPL.

MELBOURNE: The corruption scandal that has rocked international cricket could engulf the Indian Premier League as well with reports here claiming that a leading batsman played so "suspiciously" in the event that he had to be moved up the order to stop him from "manipulating matches".

According to a report in 'The Australian', quoting two unnamed IPL officials, "a leading batsman had played so suspiciously that they could not explain his behaviour."

"...both officials agreed that his performances were highly suspect. They did not want him named for fear that it could be traced back to them and lead to retribution in India," the report stated.

The newspaper said the officials found the "player's performances were puzzling, particularly scoring slowly towards the end of an innings when the opposite should have been happening."

"He consistently under-performed and often appeared uninterested or distracted."

The report said IPL officials have also been receiving complaints of "matches being rigged" by various franchises.

"He has been under the scanner for a while," the official said.

The newspaper said the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit is "frustrated" with several boards in the subcontinent "for failing to take stronger action against their players after being provided with information about dubious behaviour. The two main targets have been the Pakistan team and the IPL."

The latest report comes in the wake of the ongoing spot-fixing scandal exposed by a British tabloid which has led to the suspension of three Pakistani cricketers -- Test captain Salman Butt and fast bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif and an inquiry by the Scotland Yard.

My suspicion goes to Yuvraj Singh as per the details they are giving.

I would be least surprised even if it goes up to good old 10%.

Pakistan is still living in the feudal era!

And that leads to no accountability.

All on shifarish and money.

They love themselves more than their country!

The 3 IPL teams that are suspect IMHO are KKR, Punjab and Rajasthan. I think Rajasthan was selected due to the influence of Lalit Modi. But where did he get the money to bid the team?
KKR is owned by Shahrukh but does he really have the kind of money that was bid? I think this was mafia money and Shahrukh is simply a front. Recall the relation between mafia and bollywood.
Lastly, Punjab owned by Priety and her ex. also seems a bit fishy. Lalit Modi, it is said, also has stakes in punjab.

Intrestingly all the three franchises have the bollywood connection...

If all charges are dropped on technicalities, its going to be a shame. Well scotland yard can drop the charges, but the ICC should not slacken its effort and nail the culprits.

Tainted Asif might take political asylum in Britain - Yahoo! Cricket

Tainted Asif might take political asylum in Britain
Fearing a violent backlash in Pakistan for his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal, pacer Mohammad Asif is considering taking political asylum in Britain.
According to a report in 'The Daily Telegraph', Asif, who is currently in England for investigations into the scam exposed by a British tabloid, had a 35-minute meeting with an immigration lawyer last Friday.
"(Asif) said he feared the allegations of fixing certain events in a recent Test match against England could make him the target of dangerous criminal gangs linked to the illegal betting underworld," the newspaper reported.
The cricketer reportedly asked the lawyer "if there was a way to stay in Britain and discussed the asylum process". "He didn't say anything about asylum at first," said the lawyer.
"He just said, 'What's the way to stay?' Then we told him there's the student way -- you can come here to study -- or you can apply for a work permit. But then he asked about asylum," he added.
Asif, along with Pakistan Test skipper Salman Butt and teen pacer Mohammad Amir, has been interrogated by the Scotland Yard after it was alleged that the trio conspired to bowl no-balls in the Lord's Test against England after taking bribes from a bookie.
The latest report said Asif is waiting for "the results of investigations by Scotland Yard and the International Cricket Council, to which he expressed his innocence, before taking any asylum claim further". Immigration experts said Asif had a good chance of getting asylum if he can prove a considerable threat to his life.
The lawyer, with whom Asif spoke, said the bowler looked "very anxious".
"I think he's just worried about the backlash at home, that's what he told me," he said.
"There's been a lot of talk and there are undercover betting mafias with a lot of power -- that seemed to be what he was worried about.
"If he wants to go forward then we will see what we can do for him," he added.

Seriously? Is he more safe in Britain who put him in this mess in the first place than in Pakistan? What image does this reflect of Pakistan, when a Pakistani player who plays for his country feels unsafe in his own country? Who will want to tour Pakistan now given their own players feel insecure.

Ejaz bhat came to meet Sharad Pawar (the biggest gunda) UNOFFICIALLY in Delhi - that speaks volume - perhaps match fixing king Dawood´s message - with whom he used to have quid pro quo?

It is understood that Sharad Pawar was instrumental in releasing Passport of his mother Amina Kasker while he was in Congress during eighties.

The MHA report alleges that there was a definite nexus between underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's associates and former Maharashtra chief minister Sharad Pawar.

Bookie Majeed's brother was agent of several Pakistani cricketers

LAHORE: Alleged bookie Mazhar Majeed's links with the Pakistan cricket team seem to run quite deep as his brother Azhar had also acted as an agent for many former and current cricketers of the country.

Mazhar, an agent for some members of the Pakistan team, had claimed in a British tabloid's sting operation that he paid bribes to the suspended trio of Test captain Salman Butt and pacers, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer to do spot-fixing in the Lord's Test against England.

Scotland Yard, which is investigating the allegations, on Friday submitted its initial report based on evidence against the three players to the Crown Prosecutors Office.

Now it has emerged that Mazhar's elder brother Azhar was also once an agent for many leading Pakistani players among them Shahid Afridi, Muhammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Saqlain Mushtaq.

Well-placed sources said the Majeed brothers namely were introduced to the Pakistan team by former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.

"Azhar has also been investigated by Scotland Yard but they didn't charge him on any count and he is said to have told them he is not on talking terms with his brother and didn't know anything about his bookmaking business," one source said.

Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who is in Lahore on holidays these days from England, also confirmed Azhar had once been his agent.

"But I have never had anything to do with Mazhar Majeed. Azhar represented me and got me contracts with Sussex and Surrey. But I never heard anything wrong about him," Saqlain said.

The off-spinner, who finished a 12-month coaching contract with New Zealand cricket, also made it clear that he felt the spot-fixing controversy had badly damaged Pakistan cricket.

"If these players are indeed found guilty punish them but before that I think the media and former players should also be careful with what they report or say on this issue as it is Pakistan's image which is getting damaged," Saqlain said.

He also felt that the controversies that usually surround the Pakistan team are to blame for the team's poor performances in Australia and England .

"The circumstances that the team finds itself in are not good and in these conditions it is very difficult to obtain the on-field results that you want," he said.

no stoping , they keep doing it

dispite the three of the pakistani team were suspended by ICC , the pakistan team has been continue doing the fixing ...

the friday match was fixed in term of every 10 over scoring pattern....which in bookics term it called " seasion".

Illegal bookies in India and Dubai apparently knew in advance what would happen so they could launch a betting coup.
But The Sun's undercover team was able to pass details to ICC inspectors before the match began."
According to the newspaper, the scoring pattern of the game matched with the "target that bookies had been told in advance by a fixer."

The tabloid claimed it "received details of calls between a notorious Dubai-based match fixer and a Delhi bookie."
"We alerted ICC corruption busters led by ex-police chief Sir Ronnie Flanagan. After a frantic round of calls the ICC decided to issue a general warning to Pakistan's players, but by then the game had started," it said.
