A Russian Air Force MiG-31BM Foxhound banks to the left, showing off the four semi- recessed missile hardpoints. The small cylindrical shape on the side of the airplane is the location of the 30-mm cannon. The cannon fires at 10,000 rpm.

A Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-24M Fencer takes on fuel over a sea of clouds. Note the practice bombs under the wing and fuselage.

A Su-27UB Flanker leads two Flankers over the cold Russian landscape. These three aircraft are part of the Russian Knights aerial demonstration team.

A very weathered looking Su-27P Flanker on the flightline, with some larger aircraft in the background, including an Il-76.

An Su-34 Fullback as seen from another aircraft, the sun's reflection on the glass makes for an interesting photo. Note the practice bombs underneath the engine nacelles.

A Russian Knight Su-27P breaks away from the photo aircraft over a plain somewhere in Russia. The Flanker series has been nicknamed the 'Crane' due to the way the forward fuselage looks from the side. The Flanker series boasts a huge internal fuel capacity, the base models have a range of 1,910 miles on internal fuel alone. You rarely see a Flanker with a fuel tank due to this.

An interesting view from the copilots seat of a Tu-95 Bear, looking at the tanker aircraft, an Il-78M. The Bear already has an impressive range, and air-to-air refueling increases it's range even further. The range of a fully fueled Bear is 9,400 miles, so with aerial refueling, the range is nearly doubled.

Three MiG-31BMs fly in formation over the Russian tundra. Note the small pod on the side of each airplane, that's the GSh-6-23 cannon, a weapon that fires around 10,000 rpm.

PD-50 is one of the largest floating drydocks in the world, able to support the Russian Northern Fleet's biggest ships and submarines, the Kuznetsov class aircraft carriers, the Kirov class battlecruisers and the Typhoon class SSBN. Most of the following pictures were taken in 2012, 2013 and 2014, so they show the current state of the Russian fleet.

Two Sukhoi Su-27SM3 Flankers of the Russian Air Force fly in formation. The Su-27SM3 (Flanker-B Mod. 1) multirole fighter is able to fulfill combat missions effectively using high-precision "air-to-surface" weapons, including satellite- guided bombs. When operating against air targets the Su-27SM3 is nearly 2 times more efficient than its predecessor - the Su-27S, while in actions against ground targets it performs more than 3 times better.

Break! Two Fullbacks break formation, pulling enough Gs to produce their own weather patterns. Note the small silver patch near the cockpit, that's the location of the GSh-30-1 30-mm cannon that is on nearly every Russian fighter.
