Well Unkil has permitted the deploying of the largest set of external weapons on all Teen series aircraft, everything from French, Israeli, Swedish weapons have been deployed on all fighter aircraft. There is no reason why we can't deploy Brahmos on it, sure it would require some negotiation but it would certainly be a test of what they keep calling a strategic partnership. I say we try.

Nope.It was Mainly desgined to Hunt Subs ..even It can drop sonobuoys to search for Sub marines

It has 5 internal and 6 External Hard points 2 on their wing and Four on their body ..or Like this on their Wing

Since It has been a Small doubts It can Carry Harpoon anti shipping missile and SLAM ER ..then what is the Problem to carry several Brahmos on their Internal Bay

The P-8 has 11 weapon hard points (five in the bomb bay, four under the wings and two under the fuselage) and can carry over 22,000 pounds (10,000kg) of weapons

Not sure if any of the hardpoints have a 2.5 ton weight limit for the regular Brahmos-A but I believe if they manage to keep the Mini-Brahmos's weight around 1000 to 1200 kgs, not only can it go on the P-8I but also on the LCA. I think Mini-brahmos should be carefully designed in order to stay below 1200kg. More the P-8I, I think LCA being able to fire the Mini Brahmos is a must, not only will this drive up the export potential of the LCA, it futher turns our little birdy into a real game changer.

For mini brahmos, i hope for a max weight of around 1000-1200kg, max range should be around 150 km and max speed the same around mach 3 or more with a smaller warhead of around 150kg. should be capable of carrying a variety of warheads including Bunker busting, antiship, thermobaric etc and should be acquired in large number to be deployed on the Mirage, Mig-29 UPG/K, LCA, Jaguar, MKI and MRCA

^ No AAM's :truestory: What we know - Raytheon's advanced AN/APY-10
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for tracking ships, submarines and small coastal vessels even on high
speed, Northrop Grumman's
Electronic Warfare Self-Protection (EWSP) suite, BAE Systems
countermeasures dispenser
system, Smith Aerospace's Flight and Stores (or Weapons) Management System, Its wings can now carry air to surface missiles and its lower front fuselage has been strengthened as a bomb bay to accommodate Harpoon Block II missiles to engage and neutralize large ships and submarines. The aircraft can also tackle small vessels in coastal defence operations. + the P-8I can also serve as a seaborne command post if required.

Not to forget APY-10 radar on the P-8I is completly modified to have both Air to surface and air to air detection & tracking as well as interleaved weather mode. The P-8Is also have aTelephonics aft radar which allows it to have a 360 degree surface detection and tracking capability. Perhaps Astra AAM could be a good candidate to be integrated on the wings, 4 such weapons to guard itself against any potential aerial threats while its using its other weapons for killing subs, nice to have though, this bird during war time will always have escorts.

India receives second P-8I maritime patrol aircraft

American defence major Boeing has delivered the second P-8I aircraft to India that is likely to boost the Indian Navy's long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.

Boeing, which is building eight P-8I aircrafts for India, delivered the first one in May.

Based on the company's Next-Generation 737 commercial airplane, the P-8I is the Indian Navy variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing has developed for the US Navy.

"With two aircraft at Naval Station Rajali now, the Indian Navy will get a good feel for the P-8I's interoperability with other aircraft," said Leland Wight, Boeing P-8I programme manager.

"Acceptance trials on the first aircraft are progressing well and its availability for testing has been excellent, in large part due to Boeing's worldwide 737 support capabilities," Wight said.

The aircraft delivered yesterday will begin flight trials in the coming months.

The first P-8I recently completed testing its weapons capabilities, including successfully firing a Boeing Harpoon missile at a target and dropping a torpedo.

In order to efficiently design and build the P-8I and the P-8A, the Boeing-led team is using a first-in-industry, in-line production process that draws on the company's Next-Generation 737 production system, a media release said.

Boeing Delivers 3rd P-8I to India
SEATTLE, Nov. 22, 2013 – The third Boeing [NYSE: BA] P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft for the Indian Navy arrived today in India, on schedule.
The aircraft departed Boeing Field in Seattle for Naval Station Rajali, where it joined two P-8Is currently undergoing flight trials and testing.
The first P-8I arrived in India in May.
The P-8I is one of eight aircraft Boeing is building for the Indian Navy as part of a contract awarded in 2009. Based on the company's Next-Generation 737 commercial airplane, the P-8I is the Indian Navy variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing has developed for the U.S. Navy. The P-8I incorporates not only India-unique design features, but also India-built subsystems that are tailored to the country's maritime patrol requirements.

They are busy on other fronts.

T. Tejpal, AAP, Modi,RG, snooping episode on girl etc.

When cyclone Helen doesn't get airtime, P8I is a very small news for niche audience.
