Jabalpur, March 25: A day after an explosion at the ordnance factory in Itarsi, a major fire and blast has rocked the ordnance factory in Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh. The huge fire broke out on Saturday evening in which 20 people were injured and many are feared trapped inside the factory. More than 520 fire tenders are on spot.

The fire brigade officials, superintendent of police (SP) and district collector of Jabalpur have rushed to the spot and other emergency services have been kept on alert. Some eyewitness said that the fire was so huge that the flames were visible from far away places in the district.

A government official said that a fire broke out at the ordnance factory nad some fifty fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Initial report suggests some workers are trapped inside the factory and necessary measures have been taken by the authority to rescue them.

According to Time of India, some workers noticed smoke coming out of the factory on Saturday evening after which fire brigade was called. “There are no reports of any casualties and as of now fire tenders are fighting to douse the flames,” a fire brigade official was quoted.

On Friday morning a similar incident took place when people living close to ordnance factory in Hoshangabad were woken up by a loud noise.

At least 20 people are reportedly injured after over 30 blasts occurred at an ordnance factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Saturday evening.

Nearly 50 fire tenders have been rushed to the Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) where some victims are believed to still be trapped under parts of the structure that have caught fire.

Those rescued have been rushed to nearby hospitals while Army personnel have started rescue operation and access to the factory has been restricted.

Khamaria police said the explosions occurred in the filling station of the ordnance factory which is located nearly 320 kms east of Bhopal, and spread across 50 acres.

Established in 1942, the OFK is the country’s premier ammunition manufacturing organisation under the defence ministry. It manufactures ammunition components, hardware, shell, primer and cartridge cases for medium and high calibre ammunitions. Explosive filling and assembly of medium and high calibre ammunitions including small arms is also done at the factory.

Looks like sabotage This Factory was producing the ammunition for T-72 Tanks looks like the fire happened in the ammunition depot .... God knows how many more accidents like this in the card we are loosing our arms and ammunition without firing a shell in war ..

We should increase guard of our ammunition dumps all over India. Pakistan or China can try to weaken us by their sabotage activities. We should be cautious.
