Crap! But the 20 mins of flight would have given valuable data and off course the reasons for failure after 20mins of flight will be determined and rectified. Hope for the next test soon.

Breaking on Tarmak007 |
Nirbhay terminated for the
safety of the coast: Sources (Updated)

India's maiden test-firing of Nirbhay subsonic cruise missile ended on a sad note with the scientists deciding to terminate it, 20 minutes after it was launched.

"All systems onboard the missiles performed perfectly for the first 20 minutes. The radars, tracking the missile, reported good health till then. But after 20 minutes, the missile drifted away from the path," sources said. It is definitely a blow for ADE, which was handed the project outside the Missile Complex in Hyderabad. "We had to terminate the mission taking into account the safety of the coast," sources said.

Nirbhay terminated mid-way
for the safety of the coast:
DRDO (Updated@1:38 pm) India's maiden test-firing of Nirbhay subsonic cruise missile ended on a sad note with the scientists deciding to terminate it, 20 minutes after it was launched. An official release from DRDO Media head Dr Ravi Gupta issued at 1:28 pm said: "Long range cruise missile Nirbhay was successfully launched today
at 11:50 hrs from launch complex, Chandipur, Odisha, meeting the basic mission objectives successfully. After traveling approximately mid- way, deviations were observed from its intended course. Further, flight was terminated to ensure coastal safety."

Sources told Tarmak007 that the booster, mechanical systems, engine, all avionics and the wing deployment were all intact till the first 20 minutes. Once we noticed that the missile was drifting fast we decided to abort the mission. There could be some malfunction of some component. We will know it soon," sources said.

Take it easy guys. We will get there. From what I read, I don't see this as a major setback. Some more fine tuning and it will work.

Sad! But they will rectify the errors in the next test hopefully. However I congratulate DRDO for the first 20 minutes of successful flight :)

One thing that is noticeable is that the govt has started giving closer access to media for defence products.

such a big missile with such a small nose, maybe it is India's innovative design or the cause of the failure, just a guess.

After high flying sucess of Agni-3(All test after first test failure) , Agni-4(All test after 1st failure) , Agni-5 & K-15 , its sad the nirbhay didn't join the league of success

But never mind , we have to back DRDO because they have done well in Stategic missile arena in very short span of time im sure they will roar back with a successful test soon:thumb::hail:

I wish they make same progress in Aeronautics & SAM technology like the have done in MISSILE tech field:thumb:

Don't think so. All this would have been simulated many times to arrive at a design. Size of the nose is not likely cause
