Hypersonic means difficult to manoeuvre and therefore not suitable for recovery and re-use.

I would like to know why is it not suitable for
Just take the hypothesis as Hypersonic speed of a CM flight as in Afterburner phase of a Jet Fighters flight.
Extra speed for the crucial phase onlee.

If you want both manoeuvrable and hypersonic missile then it should be a hybrid fuelled missile like Brahmos (both solid plus liquid fuelled). And 1000kms range will make it very very bulky than even Brahmos. And adding reusability and recovering options to that missile will make it even more bulky. It may not be feasible both cost effectiveness wise and maintenance wise.

It's not that this cannot be done but I don't see any use for it. It will first if all mean a larger missile and larger launchers. We can just fire multiple salvos to do the same thing. The sub munition warhead is an important one which can destroy say a runway and take out the control center.

It will be usefull against stealth aircrafts where you need to reach near it, and a2a tend to be lighter.

I was thinking about 2-3 Nirbhays or any such platform flying in such zone where they fire a2a missile on a stealth ship, due to it's small and stealthy shape it manages to reach in that range. It is tough but not impossible. It would be nice if we send such missiles in such areas where we have to detect and fire a stealth ship. However I am novice in all this.

Stupid engine is still Russian. WTF!

The chances of the engine being Russian are very slim. From 2006-2007 Standing Committee on Defence's report:-

A twin spool Turbofan Engine is being proposed to power a Cruise Missile under design. ETBRDC will jointly develop this engine with NAL and GTRE. The engine is small; the technology involved is as complex as any bigger engine. Since the usage is for missile application, no external help can be sought and the engine has to be wholly indigenous. This is a challenging task and ETBRDC is confident that it can meet the challenge.

New Delhi, Feb 11 (PTI) :
India has completed the propulsion system design of its new cruise missile 'Nirbhay' which will have a strike range of 800 kms, DRDO chief V K Saraswat has said.

''The development of the system is on. We have completed the propulsion system's design. But we have not integrated it. Once we reach the integration stage, we will show it you," he told reporters here last night.

The countdown for Nirbhay, India's first subsonic cruise missile, has begun in Balasore. The missile will take-off from Launch Complex-III at 11.30 am, sources confirm to Tarmak007.
"The missile will have to travel for an hour to reach its designated target in Bay of Bengal," a top source tells Tarmak007.

Nope, but news highlights in news24 showed Nirbhay ready for launch in its vertical platform. Your link says that it will travel for an hour to reach its destination, that means it will reach there about 12.30, so lets wait...

India's Defence Research & Development Organisation has just tested the Nirbhay cruise missile for the first time off India's east coast. The 1,000-km range subsonic missile is a two-stage weapon system that has been under development for seven years.

The Nirbhay is understood to be powered by the HAL PTAE-7 turbojet engine, the same that powers the Lakshya-I/II drone.

The Nirbhay will be deployable from land, sea or air.

Subsonic missile 'Nirbhay' test fired

Balasore: India on Tuesday test fired the newly developed country's first subsonic cruise missile Nirbhay (Fearless) from launch pad no.3 of Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea.

The missile has an operational strike range of 1000 km and at flight, it is capable of delivering 24 different types of warheads. The six meter long 'Nirbhay' missile has a launch weight of about 1,500 kg. It can carry a payload of 450 kilograms and soar to a minimum of 10 km and a maximum of 50 km.

'Nirbhay, which looks like an aircraft, can drop bombs. It can be remotely controlled and brought back. In this mission, there are no plans to recover it or use it to drop bombs.

The missile 'Nirbhay' which has been jointly developed by Hyderabad based Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) and Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) would be inducted into the three services - Army, Navy and Air force.
