This is good news for Hockey in India. We have been lagging behind the Aussies, Germans , the Dutch-- hell everybody.

The recent performance in Champions trophy was good. we need our players to play in more tournaments.

Pakistan is hardly a sport. They are bunch of charsiyea never ever got anything in Olympics are just at the lower end of most of the games.

...............................

Indian media is bitten by Aman Ke Asha bug.

Geo TV with its team came here to beg Indian media to cooperate and help this useless cause of Aman ke Asha.

Now they aren't reporting this bid, not even the inclusion Pakistani players in the first place.

Sena protest against Pak players reflect public anger: Cong

New Delhi, Jan 14 (PTI) Shiv Sena's demand that Pakistani hockey players should not be allowed to play reflects the anger among people and political parties over the beheading of an Indian soldier, Congress said today. "Nobody should take the law in their hands. But there is anger in the whole country. People and parties are angry. Every political party has its separate way of expressing its anger. Shiv Sena is expressing anger in its way. The anger is definitely justified. I am not denying it. But one should not lose one's sensibility in anger," Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said. The reaction is significant given the fact that Congress has always been critical of Shiv Sena over the issue of its opposition to sports ties with Pakistan. In the past, Sena activists have dug cricket pitches in Mumbai and Delhi to stop Pakistani players from playing matches. He also said that though India wants friendship with every country, this does not mean it will take decisions under any pressure or by bearing humiliation. Asked specifically whether the matches should happen or not, he said, "Government will take a decision after examining the issue". Sena workers had yesterday staged a protest at Mumbai Hockey Association's stadium against the participation of four Pakistani players in a scheduled practise session of 'Mumbai Magicians' team. Nine Pakistani hockey players are participating in the inaugural edition of the Hockey India League (HIL). PTI AMR SPG RAI

Two protesters invade the turf during the Delhi and Punjab match in Delhi

Pak players could be forced to leave <a class='tt' target='_blank' href='http://cms.mumbaimirror.com/ads.aspx?adid=4' >India<span class="tooltip"><span class="top"></span><span class="middle"><img border='0' src='http://cms.mumbaimirror.com/Repositor

Pak players could be forced to leave

In Mumbai While ambiguity over the participation of Pakistani players in the Hockey India League lingers after the protest by Shiv Sena workers disrupted the Mumbai Magicians' practice session on Sunday, some team owners have already confirmed to Mumbai Mirror that the HIL managing committee is looking to send all nine players back to Pakistan in order to avoid any further incidents.

The owner of one of the franchises involved in the tournament says that an official decision has not been taken right now, but the HIL is expected to make an official announcement on the matter and name replacements for the players.

"We don't have an official letter, but I am certain the HIL committee will send the Pakistan players back to their country in order to avoid any other episodes like the one that took place in Mumbai on Sunday. We have told them that we will require replacements for all the players immediately so that the team does not suffer. This will also cause problems for various team owners as this now disrupts the composition of teams," a team owner told Mirror yesterday.

One sign that showed Hockey India's reluctance to play any of the Pakistani players was the absence of any Pakistani player from last night's inaugural HIL match involving Delhi Waveriders and Punjab Warriors.

Yesterday during the match two supporters from Hindu Yuwak Sabha attempted to invade the turf at the National Stadium. However, the incident which occured in the 27th minute of the first half failed to deter the players from going ahead with the match.

The team owner said that it is very disappointing that a few people have caused the League to bend and that quality players will no longer be allowed to play. "I am very disappointed because these were national level players from Pakistan and now they will have to go because a few people have an agenda that frankly does not concern these players. This only means that the quality of the league will fall because these are good players," the team owner added.

Hockey India officials refused to comment on this issue and have said that only after the managing committee meets will an official announcement be made.
