Robinson Armament Co - [XCR-L]

XCR-L seems the one of the few rifles capable of different caliber mentioned 5.56,5.45, 6.8 and 7.62

Remington Defense

ACR is capable of 5.56 and 6.8mm rounds

https://danieldefense.com/rifles/mid-length.html

Daniel Defence seems to have a couple of 6.8mm rifles, nice and reliable, tough rifles, they also seem to have a 7.62*35 mm round they claim is lighter on the recoil than the AK round.

I like their rifles, they are tough, design is simple and would make a great choice

Barrett

This one is nice too, one of the first modern 5.56/6.8mm rifles

Are they still using stamped steel receivers or are they now using milled receivers on the new one?
U-shaped stamped receivers always..

The newer once are thicker but lighter than before..

HOW ABOUT TAR 21 isn't that a multi-caliber rifle
since when did TAR 21 become multi-cal rifle? It fires only 5.56x45mm rounds. Yes, Micro Tavor fires both 5.56x45 and 9mm rounds but IA hasnt sought such a weapon

Didnot know just asked since india was interested in inducting them and buying them and also they are looking for a multicalibur weapon thought Israelis might be able to convert it to a multicalibur
to convert a gun to a multicalibur the Barrel and the firing mechanism should be changed rite if so Israelis do have a gr8 chance if they can convert a TAR21 a multicalibur rifle

There is not a single combat proven multi-calibre assault rifle available in the market. No one knows how successful the idea of a multi-calibre AR will be. In this case shd we go for such a kind of weapon? Better procure a combination of 7.62 and 5.56 rifles

the main purpose of ' multi - caliber is to avoid grown-up decisions like choosing one national rifle caliber like most nations
the new 5.56 is very potent no reason to change it
but your generals are too afraid to make a decision and IA is stuck with a bad firearm

5.56 rounds donot kill they only wound however the 7.62 rounds have a lot of kinetic energy........... however if the generals want the best of both then they can try either of 6.8 or the 6.5 Grendel rounds which holds good for power and the number of ammunition that can be carried by a individual soldier or
they can have the 6.8 or the 6.5 Grendel rounds for the Special forces or the govt can try Beretta ARX-160 which is in service with italy which can fire 5.56 NATO, 7.62X39, 5.45X39, & 6.8

The purpose of having a multi bore/ barrel rifle is at be able to fire many calibre of ammunition from a single platform.
But not in a single operation or in similar operational environment.
This situation has arisen the world over since specific calibre or effect requirements have arisen for different kind of operational environments like conventional operations, CI / CT operations, Urban operations etc.

That forced many armies to change their weapon system putting lots of financial burden.

Multi calibre weapon means that the calibre would have been decided for a theatre or type of operational requirements in advance. It does not mean that soldiers would be required to lug all three barrels and conversion kits and three types of ammunition with them.

For example US decided to use 6.8 mm ammunition and barrels in anti Taliban operations then all rifles would be fitted with 6,8 mm barrels and then carry on. But if the same force, say marines, are ordered for an amphibious operation after one year wherein 5.56 ammunition has been found effective, they simply need to change their barrels.

Generals are not as stupid as you portray at your cost.

5.56mm is not very effective to bring down terrorists, but 7.63m43 with sustainable recoil are good in killing terrorists, Majority of Men over CT area use 7.62m43, Now this is where we have issue, we also use 5.56mm coz of its range and accuracy from Insas, this lead us different spare for different rifles..

That is why Multi-cal is proposed..

Generals are fast they do there task, But it stuck at MOD..
Good example is Zittra which was a X95 and every thing was done but shut down due to scams..

Battlion level excercises with the Rangers, Delta Force, Marsoc, Force Recon, Green Berets, SAS, Seal Team 6 should become frequent and we don't even have to know about it. Train in secret, always better.

I also think we need 10 battalions of each SF unit in the country, Marcos, Garuds, Para-SF, SFF etc.
