"Force was being used by the government and not the naxalites," she alleged.
This is a blatant lie and it could not be more obvious.

Regarding the other claims Ms. Roy has kindly made, would she like to substantiate them? There are instruments under the constitution to check the abuse of power, including the National Human Rights Commission. Why is she shying away from approaching these institutions? She has to convince the common people that she is not merely seeking attention.

Can't some assassins silence these bastards? (sorry for the foul language). I mean there are so many murders and crimes going on in the country; why can't some of these criminals just kill these traitors up? They could earn an early freedom in exchange.

Manmohan Singh is an honest man.

He has to now start being a leader.

Coalition politics does not mean selling out of the Nation by cowering down to those who use such a coalition to blackmail the PM and the Govt!

Good action that Raja was sacked, but then it was Jayalitha who acted as the catalyst to spur the Govt into action! If the Govt had not acted, the country would have opined that the PM supported thieving as it was being perceived by the Nation.

And all said and done, the PM is an honest man!

Top Maoist leader Kanchan, five others arrested

In a severe blow to the Maoists, a top leader of the ultras and four others were arrested from the metropolis and neighbouring Howrah district, while another naxal who had taken part in the attack on an EFR camp at Silda was nabbed from West Midnapore district.Kanchan alias Sudip Chongdar, a central committee member who had planned the Lalgarh movement in 2008 and second only to Kishenji was arrested from Maidan area of the metropolis by the Special Task Force of the police yesterday, STF chief Rajiv Kumar told reporters today.

Kanchan a think tank and 'state secretary' of the ultras, was wanted for sedition. He had been elevated as 'state secretary' after the arrest of Somen alias Himadri Sen Roy from a railway station in North 24 Parganas in February 2008.

A resident of Garbeta in West Midnapore, Kanchan had been arrested earlier, but was released after spending about two years in jail.

Arrested together with Kanchan were state committee members Anil Ghosh alias Ajay, Barun Sur alias Bidyut and a cadre Bimal Mallick alias Shankar, Kumar said.

STF personnel also arrested woman state committee member Kalpana Maity alias Anu from Howrah station area, he said.

Initial interrogation revealed that Ghosh was a resident of Regent Park here, Sur was from Janipara in Hooghly district, Anu from Chandrakona in West Midnapore and Bimal Mallick from Ghola in North 24 Parganas district, he said.

Anu was also the wife of Akash, another Maoist leader eluding the police dragnet for a long time. The naxal cadre, Mallick, worked as a courier for the ultras.

A Maoist squad leader, Kajol Mahto, alleged to have taken part in the raid on the Eastern Frontier Rifles camp at Silda in West Midnapore district on February 15 this years that left 24 securitymen dead was also arrested from Pathartuntuni in Salboni police station area in the district yesterday.

The STF chief said a huge quantity of new, sophisticated foreign made communication devices, including wireless sets, voice control devices, antennas and other modes of communication, the operation of which was unknown to the police, were also seized.

"Many communication devices have been seized whose operational efficacy is still being ascertained by STF experts," Kumar said.

The Maoists appeared to be overhauling their communication system, damaged during operations by joint security forces in West Midnapore district. Though no arms were found, parts of IEDs and timer circuits were seized, he said, adding raids were on in some areas of Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas districts.

Arrest of five top cadre sends Naxals reeling

NEW DELHI: For the CPI(Maoists), 2010 has been a year of major reverses. Saturday's arrest of five Maoists from the fringes of Kolkata served a body blow to the rebels as they grappled with the killing and arrest of several of their central committee (CC) leaders and other state committee leaders.

In what security experts term a major achievement, Kolkata Police STF arrested five Maoists, including West Bengal state committee secretary Sudip Chongdar alias Kanchan, state committee members Anil Ghosh alias Ajay, Barun Sur alias Bidyut and Kalpana Maity alias Anu. Bimal Mallick aka Shankar, a cadre, was arrested with them.

These arrests come at a time when the Maoists are observing PLGA Week, starting December 2, to mark the 10th anniversary of People's Liberation Guerrilla Army.

In March, Telegu Deepak, head of Maoists' military commission in West Bengal, was arrested by state CID. After an encounter with forces in West Midnapore the same month, a media-savvy Kishenji, also a CC member, has gone quiet. In the last eight months, there have been eight encounters in Bankura, West Midnapore and Purulia in which at least 22 bodies of Maoists have been recovered.

West Bengal Maoist unit decimated: Pillai

Union home secretary G K Pillai said: "The West Bengal Maoist unit is more or less decimated. Across the country, too, they are facing a steady attrition rate."

In March, Shakamuri Appa Rao, chief of the Maoist military intelligence, was killed in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district. Maoist spokesperson and CC member Azad was killed in an encounter in the state's Adilabad forests in July. In February, Balraj and Chintan, two CC members were arrested in Uttar Pradesh along with 10 other leaders.

Since the outfit's Unity Congress in 2007, the 39-member central committee has whittled down to 24. In the last two years, several CC members, including Kobad Ghandy, Amitabh Bagchi, Pramod Mishra, Susheel Roy, Ashutosh Tudu and Narayan Sanyal, were arrested. Some were killed in encounters with security forces.

The ongoing joint forces operations in five states — Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal — have also put them in a difficult spot. All this has dealt a body blow to the Maoists, said Pillai.

According to experts, Maoists are facing a leadership crisis. In a recent media interview, Maoist general secretary Ganapathy had admitted, "After completion of our party Congress, a considerable number of our CC members were caught by the enemy and were either killed in fake encounters or put in jails. This is the very big hindrance we are facing in achieving our goals. No doubt, this would have a grave impact on the Indian revolution.

Leaders in a guerrilla organisation rise through the ranks. Their commitment to ideology and acumen in various spheres — political, military — and organizational skills are tested before they are inducted in state or central committees. "By the time they go up in the party hierarchy, they are seasoned members who have seen ups and downs of the movement, know various aspects of its functioning and are privy to its secret activities," said a senior officer. Loss of so many leaders, therefore, has cost the Maoists dear. "They are on the backfoot and confused," said a source. They have also become weak on the tactical front.

Ganapathy in his November interview had voiced a similar concern.

Extra-judicial killings would not be a bad option in this case. This is a situation which demands resorting to exceptional measures.

The slow pace of the judicial system will ensure that these languish in jail for many years, with the threat of breakout always imminent. I'd rather they die instead.

Rage you forgot about amount of intelligence agencies can gather from arrested members. Killing will kill all informations as well that agencies can gather from them.

What is the current decibel of Arundhuti's bleat now that she has been slapped with the Sedition charge?

So the Maoists are patriots?!!

And she the joker of the Block?

What is the latest from Medha Petkar and Maheswata Devi (the literary heroine of Bengal) and what about Arparna Sen?

A little bit of indication that the UPA govt is now serious about governing the country and all these heroines are running for cover?

Is this the fearsome support for the 'downtrodden' Maoists?

So personal safety and interests are paramount and all that 'loving care' for the Maoists a mere charade to be in the news and rejuvenate their washed up careers?

What has Mamata Bannerjee to say about the Maoist found in a TMC man's car as per the report in one of the posts above?

Maoists demand mosque at Babri site

Maoists demand mosque at Babri site

Bhubaneswar

The CPI (Maoist) has given a call to observe Monday, December 6 — when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya 18 years ago — as black day. The outfit has demanded that the mosque should be rebuilt at the same site and those who had demolished it must be punished severely.

In a signed press release issued by the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist), spokesperson Abhay said the Maoists had all along maintained that the land on which the Babri Masjid stood belonged to Muslims and it should be given back to them.

The outfit said "Hindu fundamentalists made the 500-year-old Babri Masjid a controversial site by claiming it as the birth place of Lord Ram and on that pretext many a time instigated communal disturbances in the country killing thousands of Muslims".

"Demolition of Babri Masjid was the biggest attack by Hindu fascists in the history of our country. The likes of L K Advani, Ashok Singhal, Murli Manohar Joshi, Praveen Togadia, Uma Bharati, Sadhvi Ritambara, who were directly involved in it, were not punished by any court even till today," the statement sent.

"On 30th September, giving its verdict on the ownership rights of the controversial site, pending for 61 years, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court with its Brahmanical Hindu religious ideology, did injustice to Muslims. Without any historical evidence and archaeological proof, it stated the controversial place to be the birth place of Lord Rama," it said.

The spokesperson alleged that in recent past, evidence had surfaced, proving involvement of "saffron terrorist groups of the Sangh Parivar" in bomb blasts in Malegaon, Ajmer, Mecca Masjid and the Samjhauta Express.

The Central Committee said all democratic, secular, progressive and revolutionary forces, organisations and parties should conduct meetings and processions and wear black badges on Monday to protest Hindu communalism.

Funny as it could be! Ideology flushed to the toilet, death hanging in the form of Op Green Hunt so a desperate manoeuvres to win back what ever can be. O! people Babri Structure was to go one day and it went away and foreigners proved that what was just an imagination(as per some) is in reality a proof. Peoples whose favour you want to win cried "Hai Taubba" leading to government getting into act. Digging was done and again it was proved that there was a Ram Mandir. Documents went to court and so-called Brahmin judges ruled in favour of truth.

On side note, Who are you people to talk about 'crimes', 'punishments' and fundamentalism? What about your own vicious crimes and Communist fundamentalism? Face a mirror before you people dare speak!

I was under the impression that Maoism was against Religion.

This is just an attempt to fish in muddy waters. Shoot these buggers, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Maoists consider the Hindu nationalist their single greatest existential threat, hence everything that the Hindu nationalists stand for becomes the object of their diatribe.

Could it be that the charge that all this Geelani and Arundhuti brouhaha is actually an union of the Maoists and the Separatists to decimate the country.

How come the Maoists are concerned, when the others are awaiting the Supreme Court verdict?

Very Odd!

Its a master plan by ISI agents to unite all anti Indian forces to strengthen them . NO guess about who those agents are they are Gilani and Arundhati Roy. Recent actions against Maoists by state and central government forced them to rethink their strategy. Till now they weer mainly getting support from Christians in tribal areas and now they need more support and thats why this statement to get Muslims as well by supporting their cause and make them feel that they are there to protect them .
