I am surprised to see these media reports. These things are quite common knowledge and a mater of routine for Army people tackling insurgencies for last 64 years. One has to see to believe the thickness of bamboo and cane jungles of Assam and Mizoram. One really has to see the bad condition of areas and jungles on Indo Bangladesh Border and Indo Myanmar border where insurgents go and establish their camps and Indian Army have been raiding those camps. Jungles of Vavunia in Sri Lanka are still worse. Mosquito are so large and so many in numbers that they would lift a body and fly off.

Today media has come to know of Malaria. This media is so dumb, it does not know people have been suffering from things since ages in those areas? Or is it love for their CRPF and media manipulations by CPO officers of MHA. These media people and CRPF does not know IA had been suffering from those maladies for last so many years without being sung by any one. CRPF was raised post 1963 and since then they have living in cosy tents inside thanas or ministers Bunglows.

Chattisgarh has to be like a hell for them. That is why there is an occasional loud cry of "deploy Army" ! MHA also gives that cry !
The above picture gives a rosy looks and rather than a gloomy one. The rate of attrition is very dismal.

130 landmines found on 500m Jharkhand road

JAMSHEDPUR: A joint team of the CRPF and local police recovered 130 can bombs planted on a 500m stretch at Raka under Chowka police station area in Seraikela-Kharswan district on Saturday, preventing a Chintalnar-like incident in which 75 security personnel were killed by landmine blasts in April 2010.

The forces, who have intensified search operations in the Maoist-hit area in the last few days following an encounter with them last week, found the bombs planted in a series on either side of the road that leads to the popular picnic spot Palna Dam.

Acting on a tip-off, the security forces found the first bomb through a mobile landmine detecting device and had to seek the services of a sniffer dog squad to locate the other bombs, each weighing about 1kg. It took more than six hours to pull out the landmines from beneath the earth.

naxals always have problems transporting such big quantities of ammo, they mostly plant these kind of mines before a day.. they have perfect intel that crpf will be in this way in return to their base camp,
and normally crpf will always be in hurry to return and are exhausted after a long patrol...
i hope so they crpf develop counter strategy soon.....
