Why IOTV failed

I have a doubt.

European mediaeval armours has complete full body metal suits.

Yet their mobility was not impaired much.

Like you can see here.

Are modern armour and extra stuff heavier than mediaeval armours?

Yes, modern Kevlar Armour is much heavier per square inch than medieval Armour, because it's much thicker and denser. Steel Armour was 5mm thick, as that was enough to stop swords and arrows. Kevlar Armour is 25-30mm thick. Full body Kevlar Armour that can stop even a pistol round, forget about level 3 which can stop rifles rounds, will completely immobilize a soldier.

Why did soon after the dark ages Zooropeans ditch metal armour completely and started wearing ornate colourful uniforms

By the early 1600s, muskets had become common in Europe, and not even the strongest armour could stop it. So it started getting phased out. By 1700, armour was pretty much non existent in European armies as every soldier had a musket.

5 mm at its thickest - it pared down to half that at the sides and less than 2 mm at the back.
