In a tender/RFI released in 2019 the Indian Army has requested a total quantity of approximately 1800 Sniper Rifles alongwith telescopic sight and quantity 27 Lacs Sniper ammunition in one year.

Similar equipment as GHATAK PLATOON. Same MKU Helmets like Army including ones with integrated coms plus they are also getting new helmets from MHA. 10 FAB DEFENCE Modified AKs with FALKE reflex sights are being issued to each battalions.
Plus Bulgarian Arsenal AKs & OFB Excalibur adding more firepower.

Please do ask your contact how controllable is the Sig in short burst/auto fire mode.Just wanted to know whether these weapons are good for Close quarter combat like Aks or are good for only medium range with semi auto fire

How many modified Aks are allocated per RR unit?

Initially 500 were issued to RR battalions & distributed among them in 2017-18 time span. After that I could not get the exact number of MOD kits procured. But now these MOD AKs are common among RR troops. Most probably 10-20 kits now per battalion. Some battalions are splitting the kit accessories & modifying two AKs with one kit. So hard to guess.

Recoil is still an issue but eventually it will dealt with more experience. Jawans still love the reliable AK platforms tbh. No idea about the CQB will ask.

Yes, RFI for new helmets was released couple of months ago.

Yes phase by phase. First order 1.58 lakhs & now second RFI for 1 Lakh.

New 1 Lakh AK bullet resistant helmets
At least most of the troops involved in combat will get good helmets in next few years.
