And again, posting links without understanding.
SPECTRA doesn't have it all, that's why EW upgrades were a big part of the ISE in the Rafale deal. It was the best EWS in the MMRCA 1.0, but IAF back then evidently required more.
The reduced EW requirements, therfore means, that those upgrades might not be necessary for additional Rafales, or other types.

I have no problem with proving it, because I know what I'm talking about and don't just spam unrelated stuff, to pretend I have an argument. As I said, I did my research long ago, you still need to do a basic one, to understand more of the things you claim. Do that and we can talk, otherwise it's just a waste of time and I am more interested in seeking and sharing infos wrt the tender and the participating fighters.
With F4 Rafale upgrade coming as part of MMRCA 2.0, SPECTRA will receive radar sensor upgrades along with opto electrical sensors. EWS will also be upgraded so your argument holds as much water as a sieve.

That's assuming Rafale will get 2.0, first elections have to be won.

If BJP wins = 110 Rafale ; opposition will tear their clothes, set their houses on fire but this is what the govt. is heavily implying towards. Watch Nirmala Sitharaman speech in LS.

If 3rd front/ khichdi wins = expect endless probes, deal cancellation, min. 5 year delay in addition to MMRCA.

I think the choice is quite obvious.

If BJP wins, it will be with a far narrower majority. The vote bank comprises of the poor who sadly have had their lives worsened due to Demon. and GST. BJP winning won't solve this. Even so, NDA was ok at start, now it's pretty inefficient as well.

This is mid January, 2019 and polls show 245 - 247 seats for NDA. This survey was done before the following measures will be implemented. Compared to chor UPA, this govt. is 1000 times better. Under them, LCA would have died! As recently as December 2018, govt. cleared the way for FOC construction and backfitting of IOC standard squadron to FOC standard.

Demo was 2 years go. GST is pretty OK now. With public memory of a goldfish no chance of major impact. Pappu and Co. promise farm loans half heartedly so govt. brings in farm package with UBI and Rythu Bandhu scheme.

To me it seems like a US company will be favored more because of US pressure. Since US was to give production lines of F-16, it may have better chance. However we must look for the vendor that is providing TOT in critical tech that we lack.

Souped up cockpit and situational awareness, interesting but ah..no Only real choice here is between Rafale and F-18IN, IMO
More and more convinced US platform have no chance.

India knows all too well how the US likes to fk with its customers and India wants to protect it’s autonomy.

Just look at recent events, India needs autonomy. US has denied P codes for all of indian and Pak airspace since Feb 14, you want that kind of interference in Indian affairs? If Mirages were F16s/18s, IAF likely couldn’t have hit back

As for PAKFA, it’s gone utterly nowhere and without vast sums from India won’t go anywhere fast. Really isn’t worth it for India.

Why next 36 ? Isn't the tender for 114 jets ?
I’m skeptical this 114 deal will ever materlise. Just look at the projected timelines- late 2019 RFI, deal signing in 2024? First jets in 2028? Then add 2-3+ years for Indian standard time.

It’s just not logical.

The original 36 deal had a follow on clause for another 36 - the 2 Rafale bases are specifically designed for 2 SQNs each and so the next 36 will come about 40% cheaper than the first 36.

Beyond that I’m not sure I would LOVE for Modi to turn around After coming back and order another 54 of thee beasts but that would be unlikely considering it would involve additional agreements and costs.

Of course best case scenario (fantasy really) would be 114+50 combined order for Rafales for IAF+IN to be made in India (maybe 20% off the shelf).

Realistically Indian babudom is so out of control and the SPM has been such a catastrophic failure that the only way foreword I see is off the shelf and GTG deals.

Of course, accidentally and entirely not by design, this could be a HUGE boost for Indian designed systems in the long term.

My thoughts exactly, this farce of MMRCA2 is going to get scrapped (especially as we can't have any other company winning it) & we'll just buy more Rafales off-the-shelf.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are P-codes and why are they needed?
