Maoist attack police camp, four cops killed
India - 9 June 2011
RAIPUR: Four policemen were killed in an early morning Maoist attack on Jhara camp in Narayanpur district, 250 kms from the state capital.
The attack took place around six in the morning, said Narayanpur SP Mayank Srivastava.
"There was firing for 2-3 directions. Our party fired back and tried to chase the Maoists. One head constable and three constables were killed at close quarters. Two weapons, including one AK 47 were taken away by the Maoists," he said.
Jhara police camp was established two months ago at a sensitive location at the base of a hill, a few kilometres away from the field where 27 CRPF jawans were ambushed and killed last year June.
