Technically speaking this JF-17 with all metal airframe falls in category of IAF Mig-21 Bisons and naturally we cant give it more respect than that.

BTW It is not like we do not respect JF-17. Anything which flies is very respectable to me at least and JF-17 is no exception. What i surely do disrespect is Pakistani version of story about JF-17. Specially their rhetoric to project it as an indigenous Jet without having contributing anything credibly to design which they hopelessly claim without any Chinese support. Look what Nawaz Shariff is saying "the program was run at PAC Karma". Who in the world doesn't know that JF-17 or FC-1 is actually an imported design refined and developed by "Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation" and had its first flight in Chine that too flown by Chinese pilot. One more fact of the day is that Pakistan in spite of all earth shaking claims is still doing what is called assembling from semi-knocked down kits. Just ask a pakistani, what actually they had contributed or let him name any system, hardware avionics etc abroad JF-17 is Developed by Made in Pakistan tag. You are sure to get a round-round answer or a reply with abusing sentences.

Tejas MK-1 is fast approaching its IOC which will happen in December 2010 , but ADA officials have already done their premilanary design of Tejas Mk-2 , and to avoid further delays , Two Tejas MK-2 were designed keeping in mind the dimensions provided by two Engine manufactures who were in race to provide 100 + plus engines to the Tejas Mk-2 program .

Ge's F414IN engines were logically chosen for the Tejas Mk-2, since they had same dimensions and length of F-404 engines which were powering Tejas MK-1 .but Tejas Mk-2 as per sources will incorporate advance technology developed keeping in mind MCA over a decade has a parallel in house development now officially known has AMCA.

India currently is working on Indigenous AESA again with inputs from a international partner. Officials close to the program have told www.lca-tejas.org that major avionics will be ready for the aircraft within next two or three years, Tejas Mk-2 will have lot of key elements which will find its way into AMCA and FGFA later.

Tejas MK-2 will also have a newly laid out cockpit layout with better computing power since it also be housing new mission control computer, Samtel Display Systems (SDS) is also working on touch based Multi Function Displays (MFD) for Tejas Mk-2 , which will later find its way in AMCA too .

Tejas Mk-2 will also see structural changes in the aircraft which will be noticeable in wider wing span to carry extra weapons load along with extra fuel, aircraft will also have large air intakes to let the high thrust engine generate additional power for the aircraft, engine change for Tejas Mk-2 will result in the rear fuselage being changed too .

Commonality between Tejas Mk-1 and Tejas MK-2 will be digital Fly by Wire (FBW) Flight Control System (FCS) along with some avionics which both aircraft will share, but sources also told us that FBW Software will require some modification in them to support structural changes which Tejas MK-2 will have.

When asked about development of Tejas MK-3 sources told us that it all depends how Tejas Mk-2 develops and how IAF responds to it , further development can happen but AMCA will be logical choice if it comes out in time for IAF rather then Tejas MK-3

HF: Hindustan Fighter

It is the designation IAF gives to Indian Planes.
THe HAL Marut for example was called the HF-24

Much in the same way the Americans refer to their Falcons as F-16

And the Chinese the J-10.

HF-XX refers to the Tejas , which does not have a number designation as of yet.
So for the Time being HF-XX, with XX being the still to be announced number.

HF stands for Hindustan Fighter and then a number will be assigned. As all other military aircrafts are being assigned as F-16, F-18, F-22 and Su-27, Su-30 and so on. As the indigenous Sitara Trainer aircraft was assigned HJT - Hindustan Jet Trainer so will The Tejas will be assigned a dedicated Series number. Give your ideas on it. What would it be HF-XX???

What about stealth..ram coating will be there..any tweaking other than that for stealth ?
Many LO features will be incorporated into MK-2 including RCS reduction with help of RAM but to use word like Stealthy will be called bragging. MK-2 will very much remain a 4th gen fighter doesn't matter what numbers it gets after decimal.

ADA will carry out multiple enhancement exercises on MK-2 prominent among them is AESA MMR, in built EW suit, weight reduction, high speed data link etc. However final configuration will depend on IAF requirements(then).

That pretty much sums it up when the ex-PM of Pakistan says it to an Indian. It can drop bombs... about all. No wonder it is so cheap.

Currently Tejas MK 1 does not consist fully stealthy features but the MK2 version will surely be an entirely stealthy plane which cannot be detected by any radars and it will also contain some of the 5th generation features.

Don't know where you got that info, but Tejas is not a stealth fighter. You are confused with MCA.

I doubt that It will be purely stealthy plane. Low RCS yes but definitely it will not be stealthy. They need to design a complete new plane for that and that will take very long time. LCA MK2 will not have internal weapons bay like stealth plane .

I`m talking about the MK2 version thats still under development.
If its LCA MK2 version then it will not have stealth features. If AMCA then definitely we plan to incorporate stealth into that. Moreover we donot have any experience about stealth design. our venture for Russia for 5th generation planes with give us experience in this .

Yes it will not be a pure stealthy fighter but it is estimated to have advanced aerodynamics and airframes in LCA MK II.
