sometimes I wish they cd have taken this as baseline for mk1A development, with extra control surface in the form of LEVCONs

only draw back is a bit excess weight, due to extra length , whether that wd hv been mitigated by better compliance to area rule with reduced drag??? Only experts know

a new leading edge control surface, viz., LEVCON was introduced to facilitate reduction in approach speeds for deck recovery. Due to this being a first-time effort to design and develop a carrier borne fighter aircraft, there was conservatism in the plan-form leading to a mass increase by about 400 to 500 kg. This is why the thrust available for deck take-off fell short of mission objectives. It was thus decided that the LCA Navy Mk1 would be only a ‘Technology Demonstrator’ and utilized to conduct carrier suitability tests and demonstration.

Due to the introduction of a new structure, LEVCON, a dedicated test rig was built and tested to assess failure. There was a failure at 135% loading, and the aircraft structure was duly strengthened. Further, when the thrust shortfall was encountered, ADA went back to the Cabinet Committee on Security in Dec 2009, with Navy in the loop, to seek a configuration with a higher thrust engine. This was the genesis of the LCA Navy Mk2.

But due to LEVCONs naval LCA actually has a higher sustained turn rate..

A small question with regards to Aviation : In Aircrafts, more the number of control surfaces means more the lift and more the sustained rate. Is this true?

Not necessarily.. What the control surfaces are doing & how they work on favour of generating lift at which speed matters. LEVCONs of Naval LCA don't create lift exactly, but gives pitxh authority at low speed. Same effect is what allows slightly increase of STR

Real Answer : Its complicated. Short Answer : No.
The size and shape of the wing, the angle at which it meets the oncoming air, the speed at which it moves through the air, even the density of the air, all affect the amount of lift a wing creates.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Philippine Aerospace Development Corporation (PADC) in April that may lead to export of India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and Light Utility Helicopter (LUH).

Currently it is limited to maintenance and training on maintenance.

After listening to this interview, I believe many of the DFI members would be sad enough.
Why though , it's a interview which provides realistic pov , what's there to make anyone sad ??

Mk2 " in the interim".
When Tejas mk1 came out, they called it an "interim"...pretending to wait for Tejas mk2.
Now they are calling Tejas mk2 as "interim" till AMCA mk1 comes out
Then they will call AMCA mk1 interim. And so on..
Ages old practice to import Phoren maal.

Parrikar used that strategy very well. said Tejas mk1A is an "interim" solution till Tejas mk2 is ready, and forced 83 of them down the IAF's throat and cancelled the MMRCA. ;)

Members here were offended that ACM is not saying anything on Mk2 in his previous interviews. As per them he is more inclined towards foreign jet and so not saying anything on Mk2. Now since he said something on it, I felt that members would be sad as they can't abuse him anymore.

But hey, going thru the thread again, I am not at all disappointed. We would find one way or other to keep the nonsense abuse alive.

How could that be left, we need negativity as much as we can, even if he had not used the word interim then someone would have found something else to cry on.
