Out of curiosity - and if anyone has a view - should India try to export Tejas Mk1A to Sri Lanka?

According to idrw.org, Sri Lanka is interested in boosting defence ties with India as China tightens its grip on Sri Lanka. Would it be a good idea to supply Indian fighters to such a country? I am thinking in terms of preserving the confidentiality of Tejas Mk1A and its systems. I presume India would not want details of Tejas Mk1A leaked to the Chinese.

Agreed. Why give an undue advantage to China. The first Mk1A given to Sri Lanka would find it's way on the first boat at Hambantota the same evening and completely ripped apart within the week in China.

doesnt matter at all...even after the sale contract is signed pakistanis will be shouting that samosa tejas is a failed fighter, IAF rejected it...tea was fantastic...blah blah blah and other shit...however this will certainly raise eyebrows because Tejas wud be winning a contest where JF17 was a contender...but then they can always find solace in the fact that they help destroy an entire nation of Afghanistan...!

If you look at their operators, you get a clear idea of the Chinese influence- Pakistan(CPEC and payoff to Generals), Myanmar (run by Military junta which has CCP's support), and Nigeria (10% of its external debt owed to EXIM bank of China~ 5 Billion USD). It's a decent fighter for its price tag but the sales have influence and coercion written in Mandarin all over them.

Sounds to me like Malaysia would be out of its mind to buy JF-17. I don't see the point of Malaysia even considering it.

This would have looked less likely if China had not carried out those airspace violations in the recent past. People from these countries in SCS, especially their governments, don't have a very negative image of the Chinese in general, as hyped by the media. The construction projections do bring jobs (the common man doesn't understand the economics of it) and give the govt to show something for its work.
