Shouldn't a wing/fuselage mounted gun-pods have the capability to autoaim (a mini CIWS) at targets within a 30° cone? ..like attack choppers?

Can't at the speeds fighter jets travel.
If you swivel the gun, the wind could just shear it off - at least after repeated use.

Even at ≤20° (just enough to make a difference in dogfight) angles?
Plus it'll be very momentary... in even shorter bursts, given a modern fighter can fire for only 10-15 seconds, before running out of juice.

Imagine the vibrations that the opposing winds would set in the barrel! What accuracy would you expect out of it??

The alternate would be to provide a large cowling that can accomodate the barrel turns......but then it would induce a lot of drag. I guess they just left it to he pilot to turn into the target!

Interesting : Reporting of #IAF moving Tejas in forward areas along #Pakistan. May be to test our bird in deep strike mission inside #POK on terror camps! Early Tejas performed flawlessly and carried out targed bombings and Air to air engagements.16th #Tejas tested today

LCA already has it - HOT REFUELING
Already demonstrated lot of times , lot of pictures available too.

only aircraft in IAF which can do so.

JF17 / FC1 doesn't have it and can never have this capability in the future too.

Not hot refuelling, this whole concept of being prepared even when a proper airstrip isn't available. Plus, hot refueling is just one aspect of a quick turnaround time and the Tejas isn't exactly famous for its turnaround time. Hope that will be rectified in upcoming versions.

F 35 continues to have gun integration and modifications underway despite roll-out of Block 3F software. Tejas can be integrated over time as well. Main requirement was missile which has been 100% integrated as per reports.

They will have laser weapons. Intercepting bullets is near impossible so difficult to replace gun.

Tejas just needs Elta 2222 pod under wing for EW capability. Otherwise it is far superior to MiG 21Bis.

Tejas can use the 50km range Derby missile.

Didn each Tejas do like 6 sorties per day during Ex Iron Fist? And thats when they say "Tejas's maintainability isnt good enough but would be improved in Tejas mk1A"

Relocating lru in mk1a ..will ease maintenance............bdw tejas has done a good work.......

3.derby bvr in foc
4.derby er and astra may be later
5.first jet in iaf to have hot refueling
6.Still now no accident

And still people say...tejas is a flop show .
