So which one of you is correct? HAL Chairman and Managing Director R Madhavan said, "The first set of 16 was in the IOC configuration."

But the model displayed at Aero India 2019 was an FOC standard one, right? It was SP-??

And is that just a mock-up? ..or FOC variant will indeed carry Uttam AESA, Brahmos-NG & new supersonic droptanks in future?
All are correct....all first sp 16 s are......ioc config...and jet seen in aero india is a lsp modified with a ifr probe not a foc aircraft
No not foc variants only mk1a will have a aesa.....not uttam its elta 52....

Uttam is for mk2 now

1st 16 out of which 15 has already flown are in IOC. FOC metal cutting and manufacturing started way earlier, the release to manufacturer document was passed on 31 Dec to HAL by CEMILAC.

1st model with IFR is LSP8 meant to carry out trials for IFR, from what I have understand is that FOC will have IFR probe thought it was meant for MK1a initially.
2nd model is LSP2 for certification of Uttam AESAR. It hasn't yet started trials with Radar ON though it has flown with Radar mounted. Uttam will not make it to Mk1a, it is for Mk2 and probably be retrofitted in IOC/FOC squadrons at a later date.

I hope that clears.

Under testing as integration will continue post FOC.
It's already integrated the issue is with vibrations, also considering Tejas size the amo amount for gun will be drastically low becoz its size from(500-1k),rounds , also the solution on way, stiffing the gun carrier part

LSP08 is FOC version , sp21 will be same as LSP08

Strange that they manage to get the FOC without integrating the cannon since it was a prime parameter.
F 35 continues to have gun integration and modifications underway despite roll-out of Block 3F software. Tejas can be integrated over time as well. Main requirement was missile which has been 100% integrated as per reports.

New fighters won't dpend on guns that much look at german euro fightersf their guns removed also it's abt radar capability and better missiles, who see first he kills first.

No, this is not a mockup. This is LSP-2; which has undergone physical integration of UTTAM MMR.

Software integration and flight tests are to follow. It will take another 2 years from first flight. So no chance of it finding its way on the FOC models starting from SP-21, due for delivery from October 2019 onwards.

Nope. I think they're doing for podded gun!
It's ridiculous that ADA didn't test/fix this such a trivial thing until the shit hit the roof.

Disagree. Gun is still an absolute necessity.
Not everything will need an AAM! Su-30MKIs have been scrambled to shoot down several UAVs....why waste $3 million when $100 of bullets would do the job!!!

Are you being sarcastic? Because I am very bad at detecting sarcasm.
No. Seriously!
Uttam is just getting ready for serious tests.....then it has to be integrated with different weaponry (n number of missiles) and TESTED!!!

Brahmos-NG doesn't exist beyond a mock-up. They're gonna start testing some propulsion etc shortly....

Sp16 touch the sky

The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) – Tejas SP-1 (LA-5016 ) completed its maiden flight after taking off from HAL Airport in Bangalore on 12-March-2019 piloted by Gp Capt K K Venugopal (Retd). SP-16 flew for 31 mins and landed back safely. The LCA Tejas SP-16 is Sixteen Series Production aircraft. Last aircraft SP-13 had completed its first flight on 30-January-2019. Next in line is SP-15 which has been assembled at the second assembly line and will complete its first flight by end of this month. SP-16 is the first aircraft to carry Wings supplied by L&T a Private defense company. HAL promised that by next March 2020, 16 more FOC LCA-Tejas Mk1 will be delivered to Indian Air Force and by March 2021 more 8 FOC Twin Seater Trainer variant of LCA-Tejas Mk1 to be handed over the airforce thus marking the completion of orders for 40 LCA-Tejas Mk1. First LCA-Tejas squadron will have its full strength by end of this year and first FOC certified LCA-Tejas Mk1 will make it to the air by October this year.
