Great news. That will help us to Indigenize the AESA technology though it may take a little time.

At that time aesa was very big thing definetely usa must be pressuring Israel for that.. as they did when india asked BMD system.. anyways must thanks them.it must have propelled uttam even faster at that time..

The image been reversed.. the IFR probe was on the starboard side, but is now on the port side in the image.

Good catch regarding the possibility of the IRST pod just above the LDP attachment point. But not sure if this is meant to be on the LCA Mk1A or HAL is just plain lazy in using Kuntal's image without even bothering to check if it's accurate or not.

97 not ordered yet, IAF always delays order by at least 2 years
Its better that way , they should wait for 1-2 years and observe the progress of Mk2 , and then take decision about order-size.
We got fresh Mirage2000 spares , Darin3 Jags, AESA program for mig29 , plenty of buffer for MK2 to evolve into proper 4,5++ F16-70 level future fighter jet.

I disagree. We need to stabilize the production line and ensure the viability of suppliers. It is all about building that military industrial complex and sustaining it. Dump all the old foreign fighters. MK1A can basically do the job of the upgraded Mirage 2000, Darin 3 Jags and upgraded MiG-29s well. It means no longer depending on foreign vendors for spares and keeping the planes flying. Let Mk2 evolve while we build up Mk1A in numbers and solidify our MIC base. That's more important than waiting to get the latest uber fantasy brochure specs

Is Tejas fit to replace those Jaguar jets? there are 160 of them in inventory  .

I think Tejas mk1a is perfect replacement for mig21s, jaguars it felt short for mirages & mig29s although we should still retired them with Tejas mk1A. They are taking alot of budget for maintainance it's logistical nightmare we're keeping 4 jet flying...
Tejas mk1A will save alot of costs once it replaces this 2 platforms
Tejas mk2 is really necessity for iaf it will surpass mig 29, mirages in all parameters very capable GaN radar, passive search & track, good a2g capabilities, low maintainance compared to mig29, ifnthis 2 jet would have came on time I think iaf would have been in very great position Tejas mk1a & mk2 can alone tackle western front...
Our mc dale dalals did not gave funds for mk2 till 2013( project was initiated in 2009) just because the engine question wasn't answered yet.. usa & dalals working together to hinder our progress..
Those almost 5 years were wasted at that time..
And even after that we are not sure will we get the engine with tot. There was no need to choose f414 the dalals choose it and fked mk2.

MK2 will outperform Jags and M2K. And these jets can very well serve upto 2035.
Mk1a that is currently on order can't?
Does it have lesser weapons payload than the jaguar because it is a smaller plane that's why then?
