Yes, but what about the cost? Also, are you sure that SANT can't achieve similar range? Even if it weighs 10kg more, does it really matter if the cost is low? A helicopter can easily carry 1.5ton weight. Even if it carries 16 of these missiles, it will still be 960kg vs 800kg. A 160kg difference is not going to change much. if the cost is much lower, then minor quality compromsies is better for quantity increase
Does DRDO have upgraded Sant project in the pipeline ? If not then keep quite, don't bring in hypothetical products.

Cost of missile is important or the whole ass platform ? If you have choice to knock down enemy from 20km, why opt for 10km missile and risk yourself against MANPADs.

Yes, you think a missile with 20km Max range match one with 40km, ?

Brimstone 2 is bigger missile and carries more fuel almost double.of sant.
Spear if turbo jet which.consumes atmospheric oxygen unlike this other rocket propelled which propels for some seconds only whereas this turbo.jet are more efficient as they only carry fuel. Which is why with just 100kg it can go 100km + .
Tejas deserves such missiles otherwise what is the use of having such capable air 2 ground mods of its radar.
Bhai tu kaunsa churan khake aata hain, zara mujhe bhi to batana!!

20km from heli flying at low altitude is what Brimstone2 might achieve . It's double than than what Sant can currently achieve from same altitude.

So I don't know what you are yapping about. It's falls within your self imposed imaginary limitations that ,
"network centric warfare not good, no need of missile beyond 20km".
Hellina or dhruvastra is 10km and sant has 20km not 10km

Read again , " when launched From low altitude."

20 km , when heli is flying at height of 5-6 km, exposing itself .
Which comes down to 10km if helicopter is flying at tree height to avoid enemy radars and MANPADs.

Similarly 40km Max range of Brimstone2, when helicopter is flying at 5-6 km altitude. Comes down to 20+km when launched from low altitude.

Can you share your source because I saw something different on defence matrix video

Brimstone 2 is definetely not needed. We have all the tech as I said earlier in nag, hellina & sant missiles we are the only country which has such things developed still importing such missiles. Look at turkey they have there own now..
Literally we will be only example who millimetres wave radar all the tech and still importing it we just need to enhance sant missile..
Mbda has lobbied our corrupt unaccountable beurocracy is behind this.. we suck what does it need to develop a small turbo jet to power spear like missiles we have made manik for 1.5 ton nirbhay missiles.. everything is damn slow
yes... brimstone not needed for our aircrafts...but they r good addition for our upcoming predater B (may be if we buy them😁). one predator B can carry more than 18 brimstone missiles.

You think a helicopter can lock a target at 20km while flying low? The missile is useful only if it can be locked to a target. Without relying on network centric warfare, the range of SANT is just suitable for what line of sight a helicopter can achieve.

Israel has made 50km nlos for helicopter.
The CCD of seeker can do real time footage sharing with operator via data link that's how missile can be guided to its target.

Ever heard of LOAL??
LOAL requires network centric warfare. Else, it is very difficult to suddenly spot something after launch and get the missile locked on considering the limited time available between launch and hit

Well the operator is not going to launch randomly and the search for the target. He will atleast have some prior info about the existence of tank in particular area. Then missile will do the rest of the job. operator does not need to be in line of sight

Can you explain how can a operator lock the target after launch? If the target was visible, it should have been locked before launch. If it is not visible, then how did it suddenly get visible for locking just 30 seconds after launch? Remember that ATGM travels at 200+ m/s and a target at 5km will still be hit in 25 seconds.

The conclusion is that LOAL needs "Network centric warfare" which is something I am calling as unreliable during times of severe crisis. These networks work well when the country has clear dominance but if there is some setbacks, then it will lead to confusion and unreliability.

Watch carefully from 2:35
Seekers job is not just to guide missile to its target it can detect by itself and can score hit...
We're are talking about this but from which launch platform you all are considering.

Yes, the seeker can detect targets but the problem is that the seeker has very narrow field of view mainly due to small size and battery power limit. You can't rely on the seeker itself to detect and hit targets. It is the fire controls in the aircraft that use algorithm to manage which target to hit for which missile and then provides data link to guide them to different targets.

That's the job of fighter jet to release from sweet spot that's how discussion began ' brimstone like missiles for Tejas ' you saw the video of salvo launch naa?
I have seen videos of Syria in which fighter salvo launches and busts 3 tanks it works if I found that video will share it
