It's very disappointing to hear the news about FA-50 getting selected over Tejas but what has happened has happened, we can't do anything about it, I always doubted from the starting that RMAF would go for Tejas. Better to focus on meeting our own airforce's requirements & pitching Tejas in other nations like Armenia, Egypt etc.

So you mean that the supplier provide the radar and it get tested without involvement of user ,sure 😂
Development and testing teams are heavily compartmentalized. The reason is pretty simple, the development team should not be involved in testing. Some companies do it through third party, some do it internally with strict protocols.

At this point, the test pilots are not part of IAF, they are part of ADA or Hal. And it is flying in an test bed. When the user actually tests the radar in an fighter , then it will become like an artillery programme. I can’t even remember the number of final tests Dhanush has been subjected to.

ADA has probably development and test teams, they will validate it first before user trials. User trials for Uttam haven’t began yet. I would love to see Uttam next year in an fighter, but take scientists comments with an pinch of salt, as they are known to make tall untruthful claims which I have fallen too many times in the past.

LOCAL MANUFACTURING for 35 aircrafts? I mean if Egypt is ready to place orders for atleast 80+ units of Tejas Mk1A then I would definitely advocate transfer of technology to the Egyptians to help them assemble Tejas in Egypt itself but 35 aircrafts? LOLZ either the guy incharge of HAL is acting foolish or HAL is simply desperate to export Tejas to a foreign buyer.

So everybody confirmed this is mk1a.
Apart from the rwr i don't see any other difference externally.. can't get a good look at those maintenance panels if they changed it to quick fastener type easy access ones

A cleaned up image. Here you can see a notch like structure at wing tip. Maybe a add-on feature for wingtip pylon or maybe an optical illusion. @Kuntal might be indicating this.
