They didn't hv enough spare parts....
But we have.....still now we are flying mig21 and 27 too.....
We don't need su30(which in production)..
But mig29(medium category)...which we need
You need as many as you can get since you are short 12 squadrons and set to lose all of the 21s and 27s soon.

Ya..we have mmrca....for 114..
Will be finalized in june...
123 tejas(may be more)..
2 squadron of rafale
21 of mig29 from Russia...
Again s400 will come next year(I think)..
Which will also will give some time to procure those 114 fighters

14 squadrons of MiGs are going into retirement which means 26 squadrons must be replaced over the next decade. Jaguars will need to be replaced by the end of that. It is too many aircraft to replace unless the price is cheap.

8 Su-30 are more capable than one squadron of JF-17. Please keep in mind that it is not a pure numbers game.
India has enough number to defend; but NOT ENOUGH to attack.

India needs quick boost-up in numbers of another 150-200 fighters.

The most valid point to be considered-
At 13.5 tons f404 is underpowered.
Now at 17 tons will F414 be sufficiently powered?
It will be a 414 IN 6 EPE engine with 116 KN power in after burner and 65 KN dry thrust. GE has agreed to modify it. It will have 2% lower fuel efficiency but will have 10% higher dry thrust and 18% higher afterburner thrust.

People should not worry about tejas and compare it with Mirage 2000 right now. Tejas is all set for Modifications in its second phase of improvement. It will have better aerodynamics, lower weight high weight carrying marginally higher range etc. I foresee MK1+ a much better aircraft compared to Mk1. It will be light in weight, marginally high in speed, much faster in acceleration, better in maneuverability and next level of electronics.

Please read 2% higher fuel consumption.

Nothing was mentioned about RCS, but it'll get a jammer.
But there is no reason to keep the airframe absolutely same! They can bulge the back to improve internal fuel & aerodynamics... same way as older Mig-21s.
