Agreed, 400-500 would be too much, right now atleast. This is not Mig-21... LCA/MWF leans heavily on QualityoverQuality while being reasonably priced being mid-tier jets.

The targeted 123 LCA & 200 MWF is a decent plan. Maybe a squadron or 2, more Mark1A to keep assembly lines hot till 2027-28. Enough.

no offence guys
the mwf will not see production until 2030 at the earliest.

why because the air Force will keep moving goal posts,as per tejas debacle.

the world will be 5th generation and we will
behind and the mwf will be 5 to 10 years too late.

we will pay the price for tejas delays and debacle

IAF's "moving goalposts" were very reasonable tech advancements.

It was stupid to go for a "Light" combat aircraft when it was obvious that F-16 and M2K class of jets would be the mainstay for the next 4 decades. Going for F-16 class aircraft in size and weight would have been a better endeavour. It wouldn't have faced all the technical challenges for the LCA and then some more, but it would not be so handicapped in range and payload that the Mk2 now seeks to alleviate.

We've split AMCA into Mark1 & 2 now.
The 5thgen-minus-supercruise-&-TVC F414 powered low observable Mark1 is to achieve operational clearance by 2030-32, if it flies in 2025... But the fully 5.5th gen, 110kN engined with stealthy nozzles will be post-2035.

The dual-engined MWF is TEDBF (although it might take after NLCA Mark2)... View attachment 68636
But IAF is interested in only its two AMCA versions.
Navy won't accept any single engine NLCA unless it is used as a trainer aircraft. TEDBF is the way forward.

Hi guys, do you know how many components of the Tejas are made by Uk companies ?

Chobam radome & refueling-probe... Some avionics parts make.
you see, recently argentina had to back up from the FA-50 sale, due to the Uk not granting the license to south korea for 6 components of the aircraft. The Tejas seems like a more reasonable choice, could this Uk related pars be replaced in the case of an offer to the AAF ? (currently they're looking at the JF-17, when the Tejas is by far superior)

Tejas is significantly costlier & our present manufacturing line is required to meet India's order.

Until TejEx or SPORT is ready we won't be pushing exports too much.

I understand, really hope TejEx is offered and adopted by our Air force, would probably be the smartest choice.

It's not meant for India, but a cheaper export-only version with option of variable tech installation between IOC, FOC & Mark1A. SPORT is a light fighter/trainer. Both scheduled for 2022.

(...Unless you are Argentinan & talking about that Air Force?)

Yeah, I’m talking for the Argentine Air Force, since we’re looking for a new aircraft

Bdw at certain cases ....that imported part can be replaced ...if larger order is given ....
Bdw many parts are in development ..... indigenously.....Tejas mk1a will have more indigenous content than mk1...
And mwf will have more indigenous content than its predecessor s
The problem with our Tejas is that .....hal can't offer a weapon package with Tejas...like Russian jets comes with Russian bvrs wvrs ,bombs etc
Tejas only has astra (not fired yet)......if hal wants to sale Tejas ..they should integrate indigenous weapons like saaw ... indigenous guided weapons.......
Or hal should ready Tejas for multiple options ....like in wvr r73/python 5 and asraam...
In bvr r77/ astra / derby/ amraam er etc
In case we don't have our weapons on it ....the country who will buy Tejas will get some options to integrate their choosen weapons

.. that's the case with hal lch too......
The gun is from nexter
The a2a missile from mistaral
Rocket from Thales .......
And atgm(will probably from an Indian company)
.... though a 68 mm rocket is in development so...I believe this will replace Thales one ...
Again once mpdms get ready....we can make an a2a short range weapon for helicopters.....
That's another story.....

Bdw jf17 comes with Chinese weapons.....so there is no issues to buy. It

That's actually what I'm expecting on the Mark1A & TejEx respectively.

Bdw many prefer jf17 as a low cost option...and countries like Nigeria will it use as in ground attack role......but fact is that jf17 has no chance against a modern fighter

R77 has greater range than derby .....why Iaf didn't choose r77 as bvr for tejas ...
Though within months Tejas will be certified for astra .....but I believe iaf has made a mistake

If things were going right we could field our Tejas mk1a and Mk 2 on the markets.

Because R77 is a piece of shit, with shit operational record. Chinese range enhanced Derby based BVRs are much better.

"Jf-17 has no chance against modern fighters" is a massively incorrect understatement Indian tell themselves to feel better... The platform, engine etc. are somewhat subpar. But most of the tech is pretty decent for its price range. Until Astra & Python5/ASRAAM is operational, it probably holds both BVR-WVR missile edges over Tejas FOC.

For example?
