it's been almost 5 months since we have seen Tejas Foc which was almost ready but yet to fly. What ever these screwdrivers are doing or saying doesn't make sense for this delay. Software update is just an excuse. We actually need to sell all these manufacturing PSU and invite private company for bidding.
i think plan is to give 4-8jets in one go as new squad has to be establish & it will be a joke if new squad is made with 2 jets again...so i guess 4 jets will be handed over to IAF by march .Also HAL isnt supposed to publish first flight of each plane it makes, may be first flight has taken place but not reported.Every time a flight is reported ,import media publish article on how slow things are, which is bad for already fucked up image of HAL.

Feb & march will be important month ,if no news of second lca squad comes then we should sell HAL

Lol. Still... guided version of these, released in twos, would make great CAS weapon.
True.. but even for these, I was hoping they had better deployment timing (early in the one bomb and a second or so delayed in the other depending on wind conditions etc). Testing and practice is one thing, but we should not get to see something like that in a public display. But sh!t happens...

Now what is Jaguar's endurance time? :notsure:www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V41ouh3QfA
So, this makes complete sense now.. based on data from wikipedia, Jag has ferry range of 1900km, compared to 1750km for Tejas.. from same source, Jag's combat radius lo-lo-lo flight is about 550 km.. which means the radius figures of Tejas quoted by media (500 km) is for lo-lo-lo mission. For hi-lo-hi mission, the Jag's radius is > 800km.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEPECAT_Jaguar

If we consider ferry range of both combat aircraft as the yardstick, then tejas should also have combat radius of around 750-800km for hi-lo-hi flight... which is also comparable to F-16 and F-18.. so all this talk about low range of tejas should be total :bs: IMO

Also note that all the media outlets / "experts" that talk about low range of Tejas cleverly never mention which flight profile they are talking about.. speaking of intellectual dishonesty :shoot:

That is why you shouldn't use wiki data.
Except Wiki, all the online data of the ferry range of Jaguar are 3524km or even bigger:

In the sources you've provided, all of them quote different ranges. There's 2100km, there's 3500km and there's 4000km range. Which of them is true?
they might be for different flight profiles, so which profile they're talking about?
Why none of the sources you've mentioned has any mention of fuel capacity?
If we assume that Jag has range of 3500-4000km, and Jag has MTOW of 15.7t vs Tejas's MTOW of 13.5t, how does that translate to such vast difference, despite Tejas having better dry thrust (53kN vs 45kN) and lower MTOW?
The wiki data wasquoted from Jane's aircraft, 1980, so does that mean theyre unreliable?

When in the pic it is clearly mentioned >= 2000km

Why did you write ferry range of LCA mk1a <= 2000km ?
Small typo from my side, even its >= 2000 km in poster practical range with combat load will be <= 2000 , becoz in standard ferry range calculation the bird will be weapons clean and have 2 drop tanks, so in real life operating ADF config along with drop tanks will have reduced ferry range this is my opinion

All the manufacturers do that‍♂... The range is obviously gonna vary according to the weapons' load for any given aircraft.

A ferry range greater than 2000 km. Wow! That's impressive! Makes me wonder if some of all the weight cutting they were promising indeed has been delivered.
Nothing to do with weight cutting. LCA MK1 itself can ferry over 2100 km+.
Mk1a will have some weight cut not much though.

Can we expect MWF to be rival of F 16 block B and C after it's matured?

I mean F 16 is a time tested product with over 25 years of improvements, its a single engine as well but way more powerful.

If we move things fast hereon, there's a good change to give good competition to F16 Blk 70 I believe.. If this were to happen,DRDO & HAL must scramble and work towards this like their life depends on it
