1.almost every 054/054A FFG( 16 of 18 in service) have been sent to Gulf of Aden for the Escort action.
the tradition is : when each 054A was commissioned for one year, the vessel would be sent to Indian Ocean for such missions...

2.In the Mediterranean, two 054A performed a task to escort the ships carring the Syrian chemical weapons to be disposed on an USN vessel...

3. a 054A is on the way back from San Diego after a visit , and before that, this 054A joined the Pacific Rim 2014 ...

4.just 3 month ago...a 054A in Visakhapatnam....is the Hindustan Shipyard on the background?

LOL...I really can't understand such indian style big mouth and ignorance...

BTW, some new member turns to be a troll indeed by creating some meaningless aggressive topics and off-topic in this thread... just pay a little attention to such trolling on purpose
ignore him...

If you are talking about Type-054A type frigates they have no endurance t go beyond their shores.
Be careful with what you say. Or else "their shores" could mean the Red Sea to Alaska.

And why is India building only 3x of them, whereas China is building like 30x at the same time? The gap is going to be very huge unless India starts spending more on defence and building more ships.
We don't have to match them ship for ship. IN is not competing with PLAN directly. The Chinese have to worry about the littoral states first, followed by the US, Australia and then India.

Btw, we have ordered 4 P-15B destroyers and 7 P-17A frigates. We are doing quite well for ourselves as of today.

We have a 50+ year lead in CBG operations. And our navy has seen high levels of modern warfare including CBG operations during wartime. PLAN has none of our experience in her kitty.

LoL big diff between sending a Type-054 on a flag showing operation and sending them with air craft carrier into hostile waters. They will not last. The useless CODAD will not allow it to keep up with carrier or will slow the CVG down. So yes I am sure the ship like the saryu class OPV's can travel to gulf of aden and back. Just not when the shit hits the fan. The stupidity of chinese so called naval experts in astounding from the moron who thought DF-21 was a tried and tested missile to this one.

When were the P-17a's ordered???

Off- Topic but...
Carrier escort duty is not the only operational theater a 4000 ton frigate undertakes missions in. Anti-piracy, ASW missions, Air Defence, escort duty for amphibious vessels, etc etc are all operational requirements the Type 054A has satisfied in the Pacific and as far as the Mediterranean and the Atlantic over 8 years in service with the PLAN. Type 054A is an anti submarine platform with Theater Air Defence capability. CODAD is well suited to its operational requirement considering its lower noise signature and the fact that ASW surface operations are not undertaken at 30 knots. Conventional aircraft carriers don't cruise at 30 knots either Sir Fanboy. At the average 20kn cruising speed of a conventional CVBG the CODAD configuration offers superior fuel efficiency and acoustic performance vs a gas turbine arrangement. The Type 054A is some ways (mainly AIr Defence) superior to the missile launcher equipped Talwar(gorshkov) frigates the Indian Navy operates, so forgive me if I find your criticisms ill-informed and prejudiced. As usual... Either way, why you're comparing a 4000 ton ASW frigate to a 7000 ton Destroyer is puzzling all the same.

BS.... as usual. The type-054 is inferior to Talwars which carry 88 SAM's. Yes 64 are short range but the IN did not find the Shtil VLS any superior to arm launcher. No one will compare Kolkotas to type-054s. I only consider them as rather multipurpose P-28's.

Yes, we have to wait for Israel finish it first.
I have never seen the Chinese armed forces blowing up things in the actual combat. Any idea when we will see the show? :ranger:

We hope Japan and Vietnam ,but US trying to make it Taiwan and Philippine.
Military confrontation between China v Japan would be absolutely fascinating indeed, considering Japan is an island nation and this kind of war will be fought mainly by air and naval power like Falklands war we fought. JMSDF has the upper hand in terms of possessing the cutting edge technology and top notch training, but it will be completely overwhelmed by the ridiculous amount of Chinese troops. China is not yet ready to fight the wars in different locations against several countries at the same time, but neither Philippines nor Taiwan would stand a chance against the formidable Chinese forces. The only thing they could do is just pray to God or beg Uncle Sam to intervene and save their arses. Anyway, US alone can simultaneously handle both China and Russia in full scale conventional war.

Lol Chinese navy in real combat will be at the bottom of scs. USN and JSMDF are both far far superior to the Chinese joke of a navy. The silkworm missile has been fired by Iraq and did not fare too well. The type054a has been evaluated by PN and they would prefer the old OHPs.

Your comments lack factual depth... As usual. And you've (as usual) failed to address a single point i've made.

Since when do Talwar's carry 64 shtils? Talwar's and the Gorshkov frigates they derive from have a single missile launcher forward of the bridge over a magazine that houses 24 45km range Shtil medium range SAMs. A launch arm configuration means Talwars will always have to maneuver to engage multi-directional airborne threats with its Shtils, whilst a VLS launcher means threats can be engaged 360 degrees around the ship regardless of its directional orientation.

Not to mention that the 32 VLS ells on the Type 05A allow it to carry 8 ASW rockets as well as 24 medium range HQ16. Expanded engagement angles and configurable payloads are some of the reasons why VLS launchers are the next generation of seaborne SAM launchers over arm missile launchers.

I only consider them as rather multipurpose P-28's.
 That just proves my point that you are more fanboy, than serious naval or military enthusiast.

PS: mod, this is massively OT. Please move it to an appropriate thread.

ECS and SCS
Chinese policy in disputed waters is to use civilian maritime authority vessels like the coast guard to enforce its maritime claims. The PLAN is almost always kept in reserve to avoid exacerbating territorial clashes. So don't expect any armed conflict in the SCS since neither Vietnam or the Philippines have the naval capability to necessitate a response from the PLAN. With the Japanese govt. not recognizing a dispute and now actively trying to officially name the biggest Diaoyutai Islets, I'm not so sure that the Diaoyu island dispute will have a peaceful resolution.

does not hold true because using defense power as tool to resolve disputes cannot be peaceful.... and in the case of Japan China has taken very strong stands in the past .....

In the case of Japan its a deadlock for you as they do have strength to give you a tough filght...

I am referring to Senkaku Islands dispute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia source for info.... so if any ambiguity is there do let me know...

on the other hand China has been following a strategic move claiming a large mass of land which is not under theer control stating old dynasty maps and all....
Same is the issue between India and China....

do correct me in case of any ambiguity or error....

Sorry if I sound rude but most of them have really no clue on what is being said. They are just fan boys who believe their navy by trying to copy what USN is doing with their inferior weapons have the same capability as USN.
No one has said 88 Shtil's. I said SAM's. The two Kastan's have a total of 64 short range 9M311 missiles. Unlike Type-054A which is stuck with just 32 medium range SAM's. TAlwar as per IN's need is multipurpose frigate and not a patch up job like Type-054A.
