you know that Dassault could not get any foreign orders until IAF made the decision of going for Rafales. Once India ordered the Rafales then other nations started ordering Rafales. Dassault should be grateful to India for helping Dassault get more foreign orders.
Grateful? IAF evaluated the Rafale along with other fighters and it is to Dassault's credit that they developed a fighter as superb as the Rafale. It was due to that and to the IAF's credit, a very thorough evaluation process that led to the Rafale winning the MRCA competition on parameters.

The Rafale choice for MRCA definitely established the Rafale as the best 4.5 gen fighter in the world, but other nations' air forces have also evaluated the Rafale and found it to be the best option based on their own evaluations. They aren't just looking at the IAF's choice and going for it.

Yes that’s true. But happened to read somewhere that Egypt concluded the entire deal from testing to negotiations in just 6 months. We have been struggling for more than 20 years now. Reminds us of the days in India in the late 1970’s when the Jaguar deal was concluded in a record time.
.
Egypt did all that so fast because palms were heavily greased. Pakistan is similar. No bottlenecks exist when kickbacks are there to smoothen the process. Besides, these countries don't have institutions like CAG which will go through the deal with a tooth and comb to find any flaw or deviation from the process and then look to pin the blame on someone. that makes bureaucrats very cautious and sometimes even politicians.

RAFALE FIGHTER JET WILL SOON BE MADE IN NAGPUR, SAYS UNION MINISTER NITIN GADKARI
Rafale fighter jets will soon be made in Nagpur, said Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday. “French company Dassault will be manufacturing Rafale fighter jets here that you have witnessed taking off during the Republic Day parade in Delhi,” said Gadkari, while addressing the inaugural of Advantage Vidarbha, an industry event to draw investments.

Gadkari said, at least 1,200 spares of both Airbus and Boeing are also being manufactured at TAAL unit in Mihan-SEZ.

The unit of Dassault Reliance Aviation Limited (DRAL) is in Mihan-SEZ and is a joint venture between France’s Dassault and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Reliance Group.

During a technical session of the event in which Lt General Vinod Khandare (Retd), principal advisor to ministry of defence was also present, the CEO of DRAL Prakash Lute spoke about plans of making Rafale.

Gadkari noted that 75% of Maharashtra's minerals are located in Vidarbha, making the region increasingly attractive to industries. He predicted that Gadchiroli would become the highest tax-paying district in the state within the next five years due to the influx of industries. Additionally, he mentioned that M/s TAAL unit in Mihan-SEZ is producing 1,200 spares for both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The Dassault Reliance Aviation Limited (DRAL) unit in Mihan-SEZ, a joint venture between France’s Dassault and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Reliance Group, is also operational.

Typhoon and Rafale were only fighters who were able to achieve all parameters set by IAF, main issues for other fighters were encountered in Ladakh
F-16, F-18, Mig-35 and Grypen were not able to show desired capabilities in high altitude region.

Based on low cost of ownership price Rafale was short listed…

It wasn't just that. Overall the Rafale had better air to ground strike capability than the Eurofighter. Where it lacked versus the Eurofighter was in the HMDS and LDP area where the EF had the Striker HMDS and Litening 4 LDP integrated whereas the Rafale had no HMDS and it's own Damocles LDP at that time. ISE took care of the HMDS aspect but not sure about which LDP the Rafale uses in the IAF.

Dealing with one chad "neutral" country for supplies and spares
VS
Dealing with 4 countries each with their random human rights drama or PRODUCSHAN LINE DOWN SAAAAR
Each of which can cockblock your airforce partially for spares and fully if you're purchasing full jets

Also rafale had aesa radar ready when iaf evaluated it. Typhoon is still in the process of getting aesa. Tejas mk1a is getting aesa radar in same timeframe as typhoon 😂

Yes that is a huge issue when it comes to the EF consortium. Best avoided.
