Never thought that israel would loose that many lives. Though the ratio is 10:1 or mostly even more but i feel from a hamas pov if they ensure death of 1 idf soldier for 10 of theirs then they would have pulled huge success.

But on a side note, from an israeli viewpoint do they have any clear-cut objectives? They have stated that we will close every tunnel into israel and egypt. But do they know each and every tunnel's whereabouts? How can they be sure that they have closed each and every tunnel? Also many new tunnels will be made operational in some months again. Apart from tunnel closure any other objective?

@nrupatunga

Israel's main objective right now is Demilitarise Gaza for that the operation will take several months to Complete the Objective

first they will search and destroy the Supply routes yes the Tunnels

most of the tunnels are unused near Egypt border thanks to Egyptian Forces .So IDF looks the tunnels which connects Israeli territory

The Shayetet 13 working on full throttle to find those tunnels nearby friendly Forces Destroy the Tunnel

also the EU says they will support the Israeli Operation of Demilitarise Gaza

De-militarise gaza, am not sure how that can be done. Does this mean taking out the long range missile only or......

Also how long do they expect this to happen, you have mentioned months but even then there should be some sort of time limit, right?

De-militarize Gaza means, one has to patrol the streets.Simple as that. You need to have foot soldiers.24/7.
They may have to clear out North Gaza from where rockets are being launched.Peace has a price to be paid and an expensive one at that.

Yes..This takes time

See the Jewish leaders are right now in angry because of their long range missiles .they have capable to launch missiles into Tel Aviv and Haifa one have international Airport another one is the Main Harbour

Demilitarising is proposed during Operation Defensive Shield But not Initiated

But now Israel knows How much is Hamas Grows to fight against Israel

Since the positive Response from Egypt The Israel need to cover some of the Area's of Gaza used for weapon Smuggling

so first Israel want to destroy Those tunnels after that Hamas Lack of supplies

So easy for Disarming Hamas even limiting Riffle Supplies

India, 28 Others Vote for UNHRC Resolution on Gaza

India along with BRICS countries today voted in support of a UN Human Rights Council resolution to launch a probe into Israel's offensive on Gaza. India joined Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa to vote for a Palestinian-drafted resolution on "Ensuring Respect for international law in The Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jersusalem". In the 46-member council, 29 countries voted in support of the resolution while 17 nations abstained. The US was the only nation to vote against the resolution. European countries abstained. The voting came as bloodbath in the Gaza Strip continued unabated today with Israel and Hamas refusing to back down in the 16- day conflict that has killed over 680 Palestinians and 31 Israelis. Earlier, India asked Israel and Palestine to demonstrate political will to agree to a ceasefire and return to the negotiating table. "We remain hopeful that a sustainable ceasefire will be reached between the two sides, linked to the resumption of the peace process, for a comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue," India's Permanent Representative to the UN Asoke Mukerji said at the UN Security Council open debate on 'The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question'. He said India is "deeply concerned" at the steep escalation in the conflict between Israel and Palestine that has resulted in a large number of civilian casualties and heavy damage to property.

Israel has been an all weather friend while Palestine has always supported Pakistan's 'claim' over Kashmir.
Nevertheless, it's moments like these that makes it worth the effort of burning the bridges with friendly nations and appeasing the ones that are, and will continue to stay hostile.

Thumbs up for India's foreign policy.

Gaza Attacks Pure Self-defence, Says Israeli Foreign Minister

NEW DELHI: Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman has told External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that the latest Gaza operation was a "pure act of self-defence", even as the NDA Government insisted in Parliament that there was no change in support for Palestine and forestalled any resolution condemning the Israeli attack.

It was during his telephone conversation with the Indian counterpart on Monday that the Israeli Minister justified the bombardment of Gaza strip. "Liberman briefed Sushma on the prevailing situation. He also talked about how 18,000 rockets have been targeted at Israel since the pullout from Gaza in 2005," Deputy Chief of Israeli Mission Yahel Vilan told Express. Following the killing of three kidnapped Israeli teenagers, Israel had begun aerial bombardment of Gaza strip against Hamas targets. Hamas retaliated by launching rockets, but they were countered by defensive "Iron Dome" technology. After two weeks of offensive, the causalities now stand at over 600 Palestinians and 29 Israelis. This was the second time that the two Foreign Ministers have spoken in as many months of Modi Government. Earlier, when Sushma took over as External Affairs Minister Lieberman had telephoned her to congratulate her.

The timing of Monday's phone call with the debate in the Raja Sabha was just a coincidence, as it had been scheduled much earlier.

Vilan refused to be drawn into Parliament debate over Gaza, which was agreed to by the government after the Opposition stalled the proceedings last week. He described the debate as India's "internal political mechanism".

Contrary to what the Opposition and other observers claimed, Vilan asserted that there was no difference on the NDA Government's official position on Gaza operation, as well as the UPA's stance.

When pointed out that constituents of the UPA had asked for a resolution to condemn Israel, Vilan evaded a direct comment, saying it was purly a political matter.

"In the name of Allah, most gracious, most compassionate," says Mashaal in the mock video. "I want to start by thanking the excellent staff of the kitchen at my hotel."

Later, the leader speaks about hearing about what is happening in Gaza and adds: "The hotel cost me the same as the price of a hospital and three tunnels in Gaza."

Messages of this sort, according to reports on Palestinian social media, are an almost daily occurrence. Israel gains control of TV stations and broadcasts numerous videos mocking Hamas leaders.
