I see only cosmetic improvements over your typical lhb emu but it improvement nonetheless. In any case there is need for institutional change in railway and moving rolling stock units out of railway control and making one single psu like CRRC or some other.
It is supposed to be low cost air conditioned alternative to MEMUs and DEMUs. Not a luxury service at all and it works just fine! What's the issue here?

True. We are getting into the habit of positioning cosmetic changes as pathbreaking for political popularity reasons. This practice has to stop as it will only promote laziness in PSUs all over again just like it has been in our history. Aesthetics inside rolling stock should be done by private companies and railways should just build the shell and focus on shell R&D to deliver faster speeds and superior traction comfort. Aesthetics and comforts design and regular maintenance is something private sector can do much much better. They need to come up with a business model for this.

Ghaziabad is a hub for samuday vishesh, had lived there earlier (no not in these shanties ofc) to save on rents but moved on when transport costs and time used to be unsustainable for me.

And hence you can't nuke it either else "Islam will come in danger".
Muzzies in places like shastri park, karawal nagar, loni etc have turned the area into waste segregation and recycling. So you see garbage, mainly paper waste, all over. They literally make money by sorting garbage on open streets here for low amounts of money. They have no proper infrastructure for sorting etc and the agra canal is full of garbage. Also Muzzies being muzzies run meat shops here with no hygiene, just like in 8th century Baghdad. All the pustas are completely shitty with no proper sewage and water infrastructure. What is shameful is NE Delhi is just a few KMs away from the power center of India - New Delhi.

It is not skyscrapers and glass Malls that will transform Indian cities at scale. If we want widespread upgradation of our cities including tier 2 and 3, we need to built such mixed use building en masse, and ensure they don't get covered in posters while the sidewalks in front of the should be kept even and neat. Modification to emulate local architecture should also be done.

And to clarify, it can't be 1-2 buildings, the entire street / zip code should be brought to a uniform building standard of such type of buildings.

the problem is there is no sustained development of urban infrastructure. Some cities do it here and there and in very non-standard ways with different building codes made worse by corruption and excessive bureaucracy at the municipality levels. Lack of quality town planners, money and just a no shit given to how we live is behind this. This is why many people prefer to live in private townships where infrastructure is a lot more developed and quality of life is much better. But even here water and power issues creep in due to poor distribution infrastructure by the municipalities. Cities have to be run like top class private business corporations. It requires that level of expertise. See how GIFT City is run - needs a lot of urban management expertise.

has anyone responded to that report's suggestion that coal power plants should be concentrated near the energy source?

presuming that is what it means, when they say it's better to transport energy by wires instead of tracks.

Cleanest cities in pawjeetland. Honestly BJP needs a big kick up their ass in gujarat. Outside Surat and Ahmedabad, the urban infrastructure in the rest of the cities looks geniunely worse than Bimaru cities. The housing projects are much better on average, but the roads and garbage situation looks apocalyptic. I highly doubt the situation has changed in the last 2 years. But what to do, the indian middle class sees nothing wrong in living in such filth so things will never change
Contrasting this with random bumfuck towns deep in the rajasthan desert. very interesting development happening. Most main roads are being concretised and the street looks much cleaner (but dusty).

Only made possible by competent able municipality workers who consistently enforce law and order rules and make sure that they have a place for trash disposal.

Again this is the inconsistency problem i was pointing out. Two towns right next to each other have completely different living standards. It all depends on the local mukhiya and his team. There is no systematic implementation of anything in india at the local level. First get all the 700+ district HQs to world class standards. This should not be hard. Just a question of money and labor. And standardizing infrastructure everywhere. But BJP has nothing concrete on this - a few lines in the manifesto that takes beginning steps but nothing concrete. So yeah i live in a private township and so do most of my friends. That is how it will be.

Bingo. finally someone gets it. There is 0 standardisation of anything in India. the only thing standardised is everything is equally shit and run down. The same road will change its design 3x in 10km. Even if guidelines exist, none of it is enforced which means every MLA builds things on his own whim (if he even bothers in the first place). the result is every indian city and town looking worse than most 3rd world countries in the world

They are developing one with Chinese assistance. Look up Colombo deep port city being built from a large reclamation. It is well planned and way bigger than Vizhinjam which does not even have a proper highway to it (most likely because Kerala activists have obtained some kind of stay) and actually looks small from satellite pics. So yes if the Chinese finish the Colombo port city then that is where the transshipment will happen. Competition should encourage Adani to get its act together and get the infrastructure going.
