The recent messure of fencing and compound willing of open spaces and recude the number of slum population in Navi Mumbai and NMMC is constant Geo tagging the Navi Mumbai and updating it every year for the efficient planning. Navi Mumbai intents to be the first city in Indi to be free of the slum population with active measures been taken. And has reduced the number of Slums and its population significantly in last decade by free encouragement drives and demolishions.

And Out of a population estimate of 30 lakhs less than 2 percent of the population lives in the Slums which is significantly less than most cities of India.

The Minister for industries Uday Samant has given approval for the rehabilitation of 38,000 slum homes in Navi Mumbai under the SRA scheme.
