Completely politically motivated. They've just entered Kolkata and neighbouring suburbs in top 10 dirtiest to attack TMC. This kind of manipulation makes the entire report useless.

As for the top cities like New Delhi, everyone knows what a shithole it is.
lol. New Delhi is not a shithole. that is old Delhi. do you know the amount of money put into redevelopment of New Delhi markets, roads and public buildings?

Couldn't think of any reason how this would benefit BJP politically. Only thing this fake report did was to anger people of WB and give some ammo to TMC.

Places like this have been specifically included as "top 10 dirtiest places".
These are flyovers. What about city streets, sanitation etc? Waste Bengal just does not have enough money for capital expenditure for cities. For a 100 million population, it has only a $40 billion budget. How the heck are you going to provide waste and sanitation services? Hooghly undoubtedly is one of the dirtiest city with Kolkata very short of even sewage treatment plants to let clean water into Gangaji. Kolkata, supposedly a metro, may not even have the STP capacity of Varanasi. I always say several cities are thinking that their past glory will keep them at the top but the reality several other cities have toppled these once great cities like Kolkata.

Remarkable progress by UP. All Bundelkhand districts are 90%+ saturated with JJM connections. The plan is to achieve 100% saturation by end of financial year, before general elections.
I saw one news article where the journalist was trying to point out that the toilet constructed did not have a water connections.
Next they would be asking for those japanese toilets

on a lighter note..

since there is an element of perception component too in these rankings, who knows what kolkata bhadralok voted for, in their inverse universe time and again we have seen them having infatuation with dilapidated infra, so naturally they could have given low rating for modern infra.

Operation Theatres in North Calcutta have a vibe of their own.

JJM is direct water tap connections to home. It does not connect to things like toilet. You pay 50 rupees a month to get decent quality, treated water right to your home. That is it. The households need to get water and maintain the toilets through flushing and modern mechanisms that use electricity. But not all households have electricity connections. This is where Panchayams need to play a direct role in increasing consumption of villagers to get to modern standards. Every village home must be defined as a minimum 3-room house properly built with refrigerator, TV, modern flush toilets, gas stove, filter water, a computer, lights, fans etc. Then panchayats must figure out how to get every home to be like this. First, electricity must be extended to all individual homes.
Panchayats have to solve this sanitation problem through building ultra modern community public toilets in villages and maintaining them. Toilets should be latest gen, ultra modern. Even shower rooms can be built. Have one fully air conditioned hall in every aanganwadi center so people can have events there. Modern consumption must be forced on these villages so they know the benefits of living well.

These clean rankings are an insult to anyone with double digit IQ. What they should actually grade cities strictly by are -> how many dustbins are in the city, how frequent they are cleaned, what is the street cleaning workforce and how often are streets cleaned. And lastly what happens to the garbage collected. Even the "cleanest" Indian city is an embarrasing sh!thole compared to even other developing countries. Indore might be cleaner than the average Indian city, but the second you go into interior roads, the same situation is there. Plus these clean rankings also need to take into account the amount of dust at the roadsides. Most of Indian city's bad looks come from broken encroached or non-existing footpaths which lead to massive dust, mud and garbage accumulation.

New town is the only livable part of kolkata, and its population is a very tiny percentage of the greater kolkata region. The rest of kolkata + howrah are very run down and deserve their reputations
