I personally think that the production line of caracal in India is very necessary for our sf, it's time to switch from tavors to rifles like h&k which is being produced by caracal, modern rifles is dire need of sf. Our govt should allow them to mass produce it in India, this will be a step in modernizing special forces.
Any views?

We really don't need foreign carbines anymore.
SSS Defence is offering carbines both in 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm formats.
The only plus point which I can come up with regarding the CAR 816 is that it shares its lineage with the legendary HK416.

That's an understatement. CAR 816 is superior to HK 416. And it's designed by the same HK 416 designers.

It is the best AR-15 type rifle hence ignoring CAR-816 will be a mistake.
You’re getting better weapons than HK416 and SiG516 both and that too for less price.

As a SF fan i think the 80s decade was a golden era for SF operations.

We learnt a lot..lots of Operations.Some good some learning experience.

They are going in now as well. Much more than the '80s. Just not as much in India. Black ops is the thing now. With plausible deniability.

What's wrong with the Tavors?

Bullpups. Reloading, cleaning and ergonomics are a problem. And it isn't very maneuverable. It spews gas in your face as well, as the action is right next to your face. Not too suitable for CQB. That is why the increased use of M4s by our SF recently.

As @India Super Power said, Car 816 with 10.5" barrel or Arad with 11.5" barrel should be what the SF get. Car 816 seems to be the best in terms of bang for the buck.
