In the 2nd pic from top, what are the badges under the name for the Major General rank officer Abhishek? Is he a Major General or an IGP?

But then again all SAG personnel are from Army and officer Abhishek is wearing a SAG badge.

Yes CO of SG is always from SF .

Badge of SAG & SRG is same now. That creates more confusion.

He is probably an IGP. Major General in NSG plus that rank in this age seems odd.

Far too many Generals have been inculcated in the bhaichara BS and we are all like this only. One Gen Bhatia the other day wanted Wagah spectacle to be shut down as it inculcates a dislike and hatred of Pakistan. Yes, the same TSP which kills our soldiers daily should not be hated or disliked. Other jarnails are busy giving sermons on tolerance to the civilian Govt of the day or openly contradicting their own chiefs 2 front war scenario.

Far too easy to blame GOI, but this is the kind of thinking that infests even sections of our military. Time to call a spade a spade. The INC-Left have truly screwed our society and made it a confused group of muddle headed victims.

There's a big lobby for defensive doctrines (Sundarji doctrine) because there's more $$ in it to recommend a Mahabharat-style large tank formations. This tank-lobby consisting of senior Army officials + DRDO and OFB which manufactures the parts and weapons for the tanks have kept the large formations alive for decades and resisted a Cold Start-style, lean approach.

Even SF doesn't have these exotic weapons in their arsenal. If I had been a SF operator, I would have been very jealous of these NSG guys.

SF also needs to get these stuff. After all they are the tip of the spear guys. People may say the tip is SG but there are some SF battalions that carry out high risk, high profile missions as hairy as the SG guys and in denied territory.

How will they infiltrate deep inside enemy territory without getting caught? How wil they withdraw from enemy territory deep inside without getting caught?seems like bogus.

These men are trained to live behind the enemy lines by mixing into local population just like sleeper cells and carry out operations like blowing up railway lines, roads and carrying out executions which can create unrest in enemy camp. also I noticed you said HAD limited capabilities, what's the time frame of HAD, as in my humble understanding it takes time to develop such capabilities and ours were intentionally dissolved by our politicians.

No it was not, and Yes India has Special Frontier force that operated in Tibet region and was dismantled. Current Indian SOF commandos do not have comparable levels of terrain knowledge and no operation in Pak or China to carry out time sensitive missions. Turn enemies Strength areas to weakness and so on. We do have spy networks but no SOF capabilities.

Can anyone shed some light on Counter Intelligence Surveillance Unit (CISU) ? I believe each Corps has one such unit comprising of SF and non-SF folks. Even female officers.
