Propaganda and false superiority of Pak military over "Hindu" Indian Army has turn them into blind and brain dead zombie.

"Pak Army never lost any war and their Gen never made any mistake" is the official narrative according to the Hussain Haqqani.

They even name our posts in derogatory term like Baniya Post, Sadhu Post and Ganga post etc even though we kicked their Asses multiple times when Pakis had tactical advantage of Height.

So @Zulfiqar Khan if by chance you ever visit this thread after eating your word.

This is another failure for your SSG "no 1" SF in the world.

NSG are looking good (easily best equipped and trained intervention force in the region) but they still have a LONG way to go to be as well equipped as the top units in the West.

Why you keep comparing Western as role model for all Indian SF, In terms of equipment ..

Why not bro? The West are the world leaders and hence should be the benchmark for where you want to be. It doesn't make sense to be complacent and just comparing yourself to rag tag nations such as Pak.

Besides, these units are intervention unts and , at best, will be going up against jihadis with Aks and GPS, does that mean FBI HRT , GIGN, GSG9 etc are only slightly better equipped than them? No. They are as well equipped as possible.

India is now in a position to start comparing itself with the best and its people should demand nothing less.

'West as world leader' is self proclaimed, Let not divert our discussion to that direction ..

They indeed do have some of the best gears, But their way of conduction business is not same as ours in every aspect, Their SF comes regularly here in India for joint training, Our people don`t like their equipment much ..

Lets not talk like using a 7.62NATO in close quarters where 9mm suits the need, Its naive to talk about less gear or more, Its always about what needed and not, strictly..

I am not ok with IAF allotting the task of base protection to Garuds.

IAF should raise another specialize force with the following responsibility:

# Guarding IAF Base.
# Guarding major Radar installation.
# Guarding missiles,warhead,other important assets.
# To act as QRT
Basically all the protection jobs of IAF should be transferred to this force.

Now coming to Garud, their main task should be the following:

#rescue of downed pilot, those people who need to be airlifted from behind enemy line or hostile area.
#Conduct recon/intel gathering for IAF behind enemy lines.
#Demolition of assets behind enemy lines or hostile area(radar,SAM etc)
#To call in airstrike and direct them through laser target designator.
#To support others special forces acting as force multiplier.
#Destroying downed aircraft ,drone of IAF ,to prevent sensitive technology from going in the hands of enemy.
#Gathering sensitive info from downed enemy plane, drones.
You can add more.

In addition to this Garuds need to be involved with the operations in kashmir for a year ,to gain combat experience.

Are you suggesting something like the RAF Regiment

The Royal Air Force Regiment (RAF Regt) is part of the Royal Air Force and functions as a specialist airfield defence corps founded by Royal Warrant in 1942. The RAF Regiment is trained in CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defence, and equipped with advanced vehicles and detection measures.

Sorry bro but this is a weak argument. I am not talking about doctrine (7.62mm vs 9mm*) or training (obviously Indian units are as good as any) but purely EQUIPMENT.i
Objectively speaking much of the NSG's equipment is below the standards in the West. For example, their plate carriers are far too bulky and heavy, they have only got single tube NVGs whilst most Western units have twin tube NVGs and the top units now have quadtube NVGs, those ACH style helmets also look very uncomfortable and cumbersome, a high cut FAST helmet would allow greater movement whilst offering similar levels of protection. Furthermore, the very uniforms the NSG are wearing look less comfortable and less functional than the breathable combat unforms (designed to be worn under modern plate carriers) now adopted by most Western militaries.

I don't buy the "our people don't like their equipment much", no sensible warfighter would turn down lighter, less bulky, more useful and more comfortable equipment, superior situational awareness and greater lethality.

*although even the IA has changed their tune on this matter and have accepted the superiority of the 7.62 in CT/COIn/CQB

Indians should stop settling for mediocrity.
