Depending on the situation they would carry a humble AK and you couldn't distinguish them among common Northern Alliance fighters just like in the 90s


Mostly the recent pics i have seen them carry FN and HK series, various carbines and even AK 74UU which is also in use with SFF and Para

Lol that is a cardinal sin. No operational details, no photos of equipment and deployment unless govt or the operatives disclose it by themselves

From What I have heard. SG is also considered a step brother to the Paras - Almost all soldiers seconded to the SG come from the Paras (SF and Non SF alike) - While this is not the rule - it just tends to happen as the Paras are already Airborne Qualified and already have advanced skill training. With SF you already get a very highly experienced soldier in unconventional warfare. (think of how the Rangers have become a feeder to Delta)

BUT if you talk to "some" SF they will always claim 9Para is more elite ;p

Almost all ex SG i know is Para and one is also ex Dogra who later selected for Para SF but initially trained by my father when he was instructor (Hav) in Training battalion.

I have heard that MARCOs have been part of SG but mostly SG recruits from the PARA (SF)'s ranks.

A special armoured vehicle, designed by security experts at the Defence and Research Development Organsiation with assistance by the Indian Army, has also been provided for the prime minister. This was, till date, one of the most underwhelming piece of documentary I have seen. One obviously didn't expect them to show their training methods and top secret equipment, but there was an expectation of a certain amount of content/dilution ratio. This was pure dilution, no content. There was an older documentary which had a higher concentration of good information squeezed in a shorter period of time, check this :


This has better narration, less bluster, more information squeezed in less time.

Consdiering they are armed, trained and led (to a degree) by the world's most well equipped SOF units this comes as no surprise. But the true test is how they perform, not their "tacticool" level.

Yup. I was just giving an example of the quality of content, (lack of). Another example is the coverage of the Iron Fist Exercise which was recorded in 480p. I've always maintained that our government machinery lacks proper information warfare (movie making/narrative building) skills. They should hire some lateral talent from Bollywood like Madhur Bhandarkar or some other film guy and make proper videos. See how well made these videos are and compare them to our SF documentary :
