Honkings because Indian rail tracks are not access controlled and people have a habbit of taking a stroll alongside them or taking short cuts across.

Additionally, most folks are used to the slow moving lumbering trains, so they would be highly incapable of judging the "safe" distance when Train 18 comes thundering down the tracks.

One can imagine what a single "accident" of this nature would do to the trials and the project itself.

Here it is WAGC3 coverted from WDM-3. Now this is what is called as innovation and organised, proper research & development wala jugad. This is going to save a ton of money as now older engines can simply undergo this procedure and haul even more weights.

After World's Tallest Statue, India Set to Get Mammoth 141-metres Tall Noney Bridge in Manipur
By India.com News Desk | Published:Sun, December 09, 2018 11:16pm

New Delhi: After the inauguration of the 182-metre ‘Statue of Unity‘, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has now constructed a 100-metres tall pier in the world s tallest railway bridge being built near Noney in Manipur.

The bridge is being constructed as part of the 111-km-long Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge line project, said an NFR spokesman.

The Noney Bridge is being constructed across the valley of river Ijai near Noney with a pier height of 141 meters. There are 45 tunnels in the project, the longest being of 10.280 kilometres.

Once completed, the bridge is likely to exceed the existing record of 139-meters of Mala-Rijeka viaduct in Montenegro in Europe. The total length of the bridge will be 703-meters. The piers of the bridge are constructed using hydraulic augers, the tall piers needed specially designed ‘slip-form technique’ to ensure efficient and continual construction.

The NFR spokesman further stated that self-erecting electric lifts at each pier will cater to the safe and speedy conveyance of men and materials to the top. The steel girders are pre-fabricated in a workshop, transported in segments and erected at the site by cantilever launching scheme.

The project picked up momentum in the last three years due to its importance as a national project

How religion is turning into a money spinner for Indian Railways
TIMESOFINDIA.COM | Updated: Dec 10, 2018, 13:03 IST
TIMESOFINDIA.COM

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train will traverse through Buddhism sites in India
  • Earlier, the Railways had launched the Shri Ramayana Express
NEW DELHI:

Indian Railways
on Saturday flagged off a new deluxe train for Buddhist pilgrims, called the

Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train
. It will traverse through the Buddhism sites in India such as

Bodh Gaya
, Rajgir (Nalanda), Varanasi (Sarnath), Lumbini, Kushinagar and Sravasti, before ending with a tour of Taj Mahal — because who doesn't want to see the Taj.

This comes a few months after the Railways launched the

Shri Ramayana Express
which covers destinations associated with the life of Lord

Rama
in a 16-day package. The 'Shri Ramayana Yatra-Sri Lanka' pilgrimage has two components -- one each in India and Sri Lanka. The train running from Delhi makes its first stop in Ayodhya, followed by Hanuman Garhi Ramkot and Kanak Bhawan temple. It then covers Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi and Rameshwaram.

The coaches have increased water capacity, digital lockers for each passenger in AC I coaches, Venetian windows, decorative lighting, separate pantry for vegetarian and non-vegetarian passengers and bio-toilets with vacuum evacuation. The dining car is provided with plate dispenser, microwave oven, coffee machine, bottle chiller, and a dish wash machine.

Tickets for a full tour starts at $945 (nearly Rs 67,000).

The Ramayana Express, however, is priced much lower — the Rs 15,120-tour package covers travel, food and accommodation. As a result, one travels in a 'passenger-class' train "stripped to the basics of Indian Railway travel".

Like sadguru had said, there are some people in country who don't want anything to succeed. These stooges and slaves of Congies and commies are enemies of the country. They are born child of Britishers and commies. They want country to remain poor and naive so that their Looting continues. They can rule country as if they are obliging the country by rolling it. These stooges must be shown the way but who will show them the way? Just bribe farmers and dalit by giving them money. They will vote for those who compelled them to do suicide.

Train 18 damaged! Dear Indians, we don’t deserve this 180 kmph Indian Railways train; here’s why

We Indians don't deserve Train 18! As we share videos and feel proud of this new achievement of Indian Railways, let's also make sure we don't have to hang our heads in shame!

F**king Congressi chamchas at it again :frusty:, and they call bhakts illiterate.
I think if we are able to nab this/ these culprit/s we should not punish them. Instead they should be offered a job. They are so good in stone pelting that they should be attached with CRPF and deployed in Kashmir for counter stone pelting.

That's the job I am talking about. Give them salary for stone pelting if they survive it. And if they don't, no compensation. Just give the same job to next of the kin.

Actually, the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works made 200km/hr capable WAP5 with modified gear ratio & aerodynamic design was delivered in last week of November to haul Rajdhani, Satabdi, Gatiman etc.

But this is the next big news! May replace all Passenger & MEMU trains in future.

Good for cheap reuse of diesel locos, otherwise not very powerful. 5000hp by joining two units like in WAG12.

Ok i was wrong!

The new WAGC3 generates 5000hp per unit, up from 2600hp of each WADG3A used (along with sidewalls and roofs of decommissioned WAM4 electric locos) permanently coupled together, the pair generates an astounding 10000hp...
The brand new WAG12s has 12000hp (couldn't clear trials as of now) & India's present top freight hauler WAG9 does "only" 6000hp!

Top speed 100km/hr:hail::hail: SUPER FUCKING AWESOME

That's how India must continue the jugaad culture. Done in record time of 68 days, this is as great as Train-18!

India is also has plans of upgrading the WAG9s from 6000hp to 9000hp & converting the newer diesel WDG4 (4000hp)..

...to electric WAG11 (body shell of WAG7 and bogie of WDG4) with 11000hp, because of problems in WAG12's braking.
img20180901wa0024182567.jpg

This is the first of the two units to be coupled together, revealed in mid-September (5500hp).

Both the above two are meant for the upcoming DFC (Dedicated Freight Corridor) where double-decker freight trains would be hauled at 100km/hr.
