Street sweeping is 3-4 hours of work . The street sweeper in near my apartment also sweeps the common area of our building gets paid 10k for that work . For her street sweeping + apartment work is from 7 AM till 12 PM . You can always get cheaper bihari or nepali labour but they tend to ditch you every 6 months or so.
Talking about corporation sweepers who sweep the main roads... they are contracted and sub-contracted temp workers who are willing to work for 7-8k but don't even get that. Our association is tied up with an agency that takes care of housekeeping work so we pay 20k+ to the agency. There's always a cash collection during diwali for these women.

Then there are cooks from Orissa who make up to 50k a month.. but if life was indeed so good back home in that rural village, they wouldn't have to work here na? Same goes for plumbers and other trades.

Rural distress is forcing migration...and that in turn will cause conflict.

Yeah .. this is the root of the issue .. Landless rural workers . The only solution are industrial jobs .. This is what the glorious service economy of R Rajan looks like .

I have never come across a hypothesis like that so can't really comment but will you be convinced by the experience of Japan (the OG industrial powerhouse of Asia in an era when british India was a distant second)? View attachment 244931

Notice the dramatic fall in stunting in the years leading up to their high growth era.

Anyways, the NFHS is a total piece of crap and even the members of the EAC admit as much - very little can be achieved by accepting its findings at face value.
How did they bring it down from over 50% to less than 10% in 20 years? The rate of decline after WW2 is incredibly. Why can't we do that?

Indian economy is firing on both the cylinder with India becoming centre for labour intensive investment, which previously was China.

India needs $100 billion a year more FDI on top of what India is getting so far to boost current from 8% growth to 10/11% growth.

Modi has set the tone for all these things to happen. So far stampede of investment out of China, into India has not happened. The smart Chinese aware of it have lowered the tension over Taiwan. In last two years they were about to force the issue but relented. They hate not to loose export business.

The quarrelsome state politicians always ready to jump on criticism of Modi government have to be shown the way to greater spending on development than on social freebies.

Cheers

If this doesn't indicate rising purchasing powers, what else does?
  • India’s data consumption grew 20.8% year-on-year to 17.4 exabyte per month
  • Average monthly mobile data traffic per user grew 24% year-on-year in 2023 to 24.1 GB

The most random shit is Happiness Index.

What the heck is this?
How we are quantifying this?

Meanwhile the so called Higher ranked countries every guy is on anti depression pills. At least we have nosy relatives and family structure which support at any age.

Nothing to talk about west here.
In that Sh*t index, All poor countries are happier than rich countries. The countries from where people flee for safety and food are happier than the countries where they seek shelter.

Survey sample size was 1000 people in each country.

How can you guess Happiness index of a country as big as India just with a sample size of 1000 people?

Happiest Country-1: Finland - Surveyed 0.018% of population.
Happiest Country-2: Denmark - Surveyed 0.017% of population.
Happiest Country-3: Iceland - Surveyed 0.269% of population.

Not good but OK.

Now come to India:
Happiest Country-126: India- Surveyed 0.00000709% of population

I am not very sure but I am reasonably convince that more they see Indian being successful everywhere and more they see India rising more phenomenally, more they will try to malign Indian Impression. Recently, in a video of defense on YouTube, the guy claimed that he received an offer of 12000 USD from Turkey to make a video stating that Indian weapons are junk so that by quoting him, they can do propaganda in Armenia and Ukraine.

When we were discussing FAGFA with Russia, they ranked FAGFA behind PAKFA in the list coming 5th Generation plane though FAGFA was proposed with many new modifications and far better electronics. They rank Pakistan ahead of India in Nuke list. They keep doing this for many decades. More India and Indian succeed, more they will do such Propaganda against Indians. We should have our own such rating agencies and counter Propaganda machinery.

OR

When they ask India to release restrictions on Food grain etc., we should tell them we already have hungry people as per our survey so please do not ask us to help others. You can ask the countries with higher ranking in Index to do that.
