India's share of global FDI is also declining.
Annual FDI inflows since FY 2014-15 (in billion US$);

FYIndiaGlobalShare of Global FDI (%)
2014-1545.1519402.17
2015-1655.627602.01
2016-1760.2227302.2
2017-1860.9721902.78
2018-1962885.67
2019-2074.3918504.02
2020-2181.9712006.83
2021-2284.8422003.86
2022-2370.9717404.08

Not much of a consistent y-o-y pattern but overall, share of global FDI seems to have increased...

Comrade ... pls provide the sauce . I need it it to bludgeon certain peoples with.

Also, my favorite: 100% of Indians should have had a basic home with smart meter, water connection, gas connections and sewerage by now. We have a huge population. We could have mobilized lakes of people under MNREGS to get this done. What were we waiting for?
GOI has made a lot of progress on some of the issues that you mention. Jal Jeevan mission has made dramatic improvements(from around 16% in 2019 to around 70% now). 100% is impossible in such short time frames. Smart metering is also going ahead, initially this was slower because of disagreements between states and center, and we also blocked out cheeni companies from selling their meters.
Gas connections-India imports large amounts of gas especially from rogue nations like Gutter. 100% wouldn't be feasible here. Need to think of other solutions like induction cooktop and make it cheaper.

On other issues and structural reforms- agreed. But It's still better than UPA2 tho, capex is going up and no NPA crisis.

However visibly looking at videos and images, Dhaka seems to be doing better than Kolkata with plenty of infrastructure projects in Dhaka completed or underway. And these are large projects like expressways, metro, river transport. And frankly Dhaka’s high income districts are not bad - they do have some modern buildings and decent road infrastructure. They also have good beachside towns in Cox’s Bazaar area and the Chittagong port is doing brisk business. The bridge on the Padma river is a game changer for them. Now WB’s PCI is like $1700. I think Bangladesh is more developed than WB now. So, you would expect B’Desh to have a higher PCI than WB - maybe $2000-2100 if not $2600. This analysis is based on visibly looking at the developments in Bangladesh videos on YT. But yes if the greenest people explode themselves let and right, Bangaldesh is going to become another Pakodastan - chances of this implosion in B’Desh is quite high. Hence they have to keep selecting Hasina for more time, as at least she kept these greenest filth in check and built decent infrastructure that helps both BDesh and us.
Yet they all come to Kolkata for medical treatments as well as shopping. For big ticket treatment they fly to Chennai and Vellore so much so that there is Indigo and Vistara flights between Dhaka and Chennai.

Modi govt to construct 1000 modern buildings in 1st phase with facilities for taxi, truck drivers in ALL National Highways.

"Minimum Government, Maximum Governance"...lol. Is Modi govt run out of ideas or responding to Rahul meeting drivers?

This is better. Truck drivers need to relax to prevent accidents. Buses and trucks really don’t have high quality way side amenities in most highways. The govt will probably lease these to private parties to run but Gadkariji needs to construct them first.

The sooner we fix the basics, everyone can start doing higher level of work to contribute to ekonimy. Village houses are cheap to build, Just build people decent cheap homes so they don’t live in sheds, thatched huts etc. put some small industry clusters in every village cluster so people can do something other than agriculture. All this is not going to take much money. Just saturation of government schemes will do.

Probably the rich ones. Like I said visibly just going by videos and sat pictures, Bangladesh seems to be better than westbengal. Dhaka seems to have a lot more infra projects going on than Kolkata. They are certainly putting capex into infrastructure and doing urban development- that much is clear. You can look at videos of Dhaka on YT. A lot is going on there.

This is another reason why manufacturing growth in India is not as high as it could be. Car ownership rate in India is too low due to high taxation. If we are going to have taxation like this, how exactly are we going to increase manufacturing production. A lot more people will be able to own cars if the GST was reduced to reasonable rates.

Some of the Figures are shockers.

Figures for High Income States
Andhra Pradesh - 2.8%
Tamil Nadu - 6.5%
Karnataka - 9.1%

Figures for Low Income States
Rajasthan - 8.2%
Uttar Pradesh - 5.5%
Madhya Pradesh - 5.3%

Most Shocking
Waste Bengal despite having Kolkata - 2.8% competing with Bihar.
Maharashtra despite having Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur - 8.7%.

Are we calculating GDPs of the States correctly ?

India has completely dysfunctional local government stats. People here love to claim Chinese GDP figures are overstated and whatever, but at least they publish primary to tertiary economic figures down to the sub-district(county) level. Most indian states do not release district level figures. How are people so confident that our GDP figures are accurate? It can be widely overstated or even undercounted. Even that tax figure chart going around claiming the south only receives 10rs per 100 rs and Bihar receives 900rs seems rubbish. Does India actually have proper mechanisms to accurately estimate tax contributions at each input without double counting?

>"The District Domestic Product estimates are prepared on a provisional basis. The database for the estimation is available for Primary sector only. In respect of Secondary and Tertiary sectors, the State level estimates are allocated to districts with appropriate available indicators and workforce under each sector as revealed during 6th Economic Census. Due to addition of new data items viz., Private Corporate part etc., and availability of new data sources in computation of GSDP of the State, identification of suitable physical indicators with respect to each sector to be allocated for the districts is in process. Because of data limitations, it may not be very useful to analyse sector-wise district estimates between any two given points of time as these estimates have not yet firmed up"

This is a note from Karnataka's Economic Survey. Look at this rubbish. The state themselves have no idea on how to accurately gauge economic productivity at local levels. The western world figured this out a 100 years ago.

Ya'll Nibbiars The Maharashtra, which is home to the financial capital of the country and among the leading automobile manufacturing hubs in the country, saw cumulative sales of 532,694 units across four vehicle segments, which gives it a 9.68% share of overall India Auto Inc’s Q1 FY2024 numbers. Maharashtra’s heft comes from it being the No. 1 in passenger vehicle sales – 119,516 units and a 12% share of the PV market as well as an identical 12% share in the critical commercial vehicle market 26,045 units.

And @Ugra Bhairav Nibba abhi date dikha na.

Very pertinent points. Fuel price gouging is criminal, now
infra capex programmes would still be funded by loans not revenue receipts, planned borrowing is around 16.8 lakh crore, BE for last year's borrowing budget was 17.8 lakh crore.

GoI borrows for infra, is because among other things they get additional layer of scrutiny on the project from the lender.

I can't find it right now but there is is an epic comment on reddit which compares most common aspects of consumption from steel ,electricity, cars , 2 wheelers , fuel and some 5 other categories where we are 3 X kangludesh in per capita terms . They are not an energy exporting country heck they import most of it like us neither are they a tourism destination (heck they have outflows there ) they aren't food secure either .So we can count out those outliers. The math ain't mathing for kangludesh all this points to a govt level cope where great leader hasina legitimises her power by claiming to her green chimps that they are better off than the kafirs .
The only positive that I can think of is that they have 2 ish TFR which means that atleast this overcrowded shithole ain't gonna go into mass starvation in the near future as opposed to jhaantistan.
Don't forget that this started with our treacherous patrakars spreading the meme of Kanglu having more per capita GDP than us.
Prior to this no Kanglu had these thoughts.
