The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has retained India's GDP growth forecasts at 9.5% in 2021 and 8.5% for 2022, but trimmed the global growth outlook, saying the recovery has lost momentum and become increasingly divided.

The United States is projected to grow at 6% this year and 5.2% the next year. China, on the other hand, the IMF said is projected to grow at 8% in 2021, down 0.1 percentage points from its July estimate. The GDP of China is projected to grow at 5.6% in 2022.

Foxconn's Bharat FIH opens research, development centre in Chennai

Electronic manufacturing services firm Foxconn's subsidiary Bharat FIH, formerly known as Rising Stars Mobile India, has opened a research and development centre at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai, the company said on Tuesday.

It will be among the first R&D centres in India to design end-to-end 5G devices and will offer end-to-end services to customers, including product design, tooling and moulding, global sourcing and manufacturing services for smartphones and other products and services in the electronics segment.

Bharat FIH makes devices for Xiaomi and Nokia.

Bharat FIH Country Head and Managing Director Josh Foulger said there is a clear market need for innovative technologies and products with quick turnaround times in the ever-changing electronics segment.

"Our India R&D will capitalise on our manufacturing strengths and collaborate with our global teams under the Foxconn Technology Group in product design, cost optimisation, customer experience, sourcing, tooling and manufacturing," Foulger said.

The company said the R&D facility will be equipped to offer a tailor-made robust product designed for all current and future cutting-edge technologies for its global and Indian customers.

"Bharat FIH R&D centre will be among the first R&D centres in India to design end-to-end 5G devices. This centre will also leverage the IT strength and local talents," Foulger said.

Bharat FIH R&D centre will operate in four domains namely, industrial, mechanical, hardware and software design, and will be aligned to help translate customer requirements into product specifications for all electronic products.

"OEM (original equipment manufacturer) brands in the electronics sector will have access to our latest technologies and robust designs based on deep consumer insights and assist them in shortening their product development cycles," Foulger said.

India to receive investment of Rs 3,300 crore from Nokia, Foxconn, Flextronics, others under PLI initiative

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi government is set to receive an investment of about Rs 3,300 from 31 domestic and multinational companies for a period of four years under the ambitious production-linked incentive or PLI scheme which is expected to additionally employ as many as 40,000 individuals in the telecom sector.

Following the incentive package unveiled early this year, proposals from as many as 31 companies that included 16 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and 7 multinationals and 8 domestic players have been approved by the telecom department (DoT).

The multinationals included Nokia Solutions and Networks, Foxconn Technology, Flextronics Technologies, Commscope and Jabil Circuit. In addition, HFCL, Tejas Networks, VVDN Technologies, Dixon Electro Appliances, and state-run ITI were among homegrown companies declared eligible under the scheme.

The scheme is expected to facilitate production of nearly 1.82 lakh crore, and investment of about Rs 3,345-crore which is envisaged in the sector for over four years, creating an additional employment of more than 40,000 people, the telecom department (DoT) in a note said.

In April 2021, the Centre has launched a prestigious program with an outlay of Rs 12,195-crore to promote networking equipment by incentivising incremental investments by domestic and foreign companies.

The scheme, according to the note, would boost research and development (R&D) activities locally with companies committed to spend 15% of their revenues for the development of new products.

The support under the scheme would be provided for a five-year term, from the financial year 2021-22 to 2025-26.

The scheme for the telecom sector includes manufacturing of transmission equipment, next generation (4G and 5G) radio access network and wireless equipment, customer premise equipment (CPE), access devices, routers and switches.

Doesn't look special in any way, they should have built one of those new ''lifestyle centers". (Which again is another name for a Mall)

Taurus Downtown, Trivandrum

Looks good for a tier 3 city like Thiruvananthapuram. The Mumbai one wouldn't look out of place in a small town.
Ya'll Nibbiars Reliance Convention centre where the new Mall is opened. Indias Largest Convetion Centre. And 60 lakhs sq feet of leasable space.
