Lashkar-e-Toiba divisional commander Abu Quasha killed in joint operation by Army and J&K Police SOG this morning in Handwara, North Kashmir. Encounter took place in Sudal Village in Magam area of Handwara. 47 RR, 21 RR, 6RR and SOG were part of the operation.

Srinagar: Divisional Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit got killed in an ongoing encounter at Handwara in north Kashmirs Kupwara district, Sunday morning.

A senior Indian defence official told GNS that, acting on specific information about the presence of some militants at village Sudal area of Magam in Handwara, army's 47 RR, 21 RR, 6 RR alongwith Special Operations Group (SOG) swung into action and soon cordoned-off the area.

As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area opened fire on them. The fire was retaliated ensuing an enraging gunfight between forces and hiding militants.

"During the gunfight, the divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba Abu Quasha got killed", a senior defence official said, adding that the operation is still going on in the area. (GNS)

VZ58..thats why...It rarely seen among any units except PARA.Even after the induction of TAR21s VZ58s were spotted with PARA along TARs.
