Time To Declare Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey Terror Sponsors: Former Pentagon Official

A former Pentagon official has said that it is

time for the Trump Administration to designate Pakistan along with Qatar and Turkey as state sponsors of terrorism.

"It is time to hold Pakistan to account. If Pakistan then wishes to escape sanctions, it must imprison terrorists on its soil and cease any funding and equipping of them," said Michael Rubin, a resident scholar with American Enterprise Institute (AEI), in an op-ed in The Washington Examiner.

Since 1979, the US State Department, similar to India's Ministry of External affairs, has maintained a list of State Sponsor of Terrorism.

So far the Secretary of State has designated Libya, Iraq, South Yemen, Syria, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and North Korea as State Sponsor of Terrorism after determining that these have "repeatedly provided support for acts of
international terrorism".

Over the years many of these countries were gradually removed off the list. As of now, three countries are on the list Iran, Syria and Sudan.

However, Rubin, a former Pentagon official in his op-ed argues that at a time when the world is infested with terrorist activities, the US needs to return the terror list to its original purpose: calling out states which embrace terrorism, n
o matter whether they are US allies or not.

Three countries, he argued, deserves to be on this list. They are Turkey, Qatar and Pakistan.

Alleging that under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey has enabled and supplied the Islamic State and al Qaeda-linked groups inside Syria, Rubin said Qatar has not only become the chief banker to Hamas, but it also finances the most radical al Qaeda-affiliated groups in
Syria and Libya.

"Pakistan has escaped the state sponsorship of terrorism list for far too long," he asserted.

Alleging that leaders of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence openly supports the Taliban, Rubin said Islamabad continues to tolerate and support an array of terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammad, which recruited the Times Square bomber, and Lashkar-e-
Taiba, responsible for the 2001 attack on India's parliament and the 2008 slaughter of tourists at a Mumbai hotel.

"Nor is it credible that al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden lived in Abbottabad, Pakistan's equivalent of West Point, without senior Pakistani authorities knowing it," he said.

Rubin observed that occasional Pakistani government crackdowns on these groups are
insincere: Even for the most high-profile terrorists, Pakistani prisons have revolving doors.

Perhaps the Bush and Obama administration gave Islamabad a pass because they wanted Pakistans logistical cooperation in Afghanistan, but it didn't work, he said.

"Turning a blind eye toward Pakistani terror support cost scores of American lives, even as
Pakistani leaders received billions of US dollars," he added.

India is having trade surplus with Pakistan so that is the reason why we are not taking any action. It is a same situation that is between China and India. China has huge trade surplus with India so they could not take any action against India. Had it been otherwise we would have witnessed war over Doklam issue.

There is never a fool proof plan that can stop such an attack.

As far as precautions are concerned... ever since URI attack , perimeter defences of army bases are being upgraded based on threat priority.

Don’t know if the same if being done for paramilitary bases.

Major Leetul Gogoi from Assam leads operation in Kashmir killing 3 JeM terrorists

Major Leetul Gogoi of the 52nd Rashtriya Rifle today led the operation that killed 3 terrorists in Kashmir, confirmed sources in Srinagar.

Three terrorists allegedly belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad today launched a fidayeen attack in a camp manned by the 182nd battalion of BSF camp located near Srinagar airport and Air Force Station in the wee hours of Tuesday.

However all three terrorists sighted were neutralized and the entire area was sanitized. The ensued encounter with terrorists was led by decorated army officer Major Leetul Gogoi.

Gogoi who is from Assam grabbed headline in April this year when he used a Kashmir shawl maker as human shield by tying him in the bonnet of his jeep. He subsequently paraded him to evade stone-pelters amidst a by poll in Kashmir.

Terrorist Pretended To Be Soldier, Then Turned His Gun On CRPF

https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/sri...-at-his-comrade-1758127?pfrom=home-topstories

Srinagar: One of the three terrorists who broke into a Border Security Force (BSF) campus near the Srinagar airport in military uniforms this morning, pretended to be a soldier and fired in the same direction as the security forces until he was spotted and killed, a top officer leading the operation told NDTV.

One soldier was killed and three wounded in the attack on the security camp that shares a boundary wall with an Air Force base and is about 500 metres from Kashmir's main airport.

The first terrorist was killed around 4.15 am, shortly after the group attacked the camp. Two other terrorists ran into two buildings - the administrative block and the officers' mess - and fired from there.

Ravideep Singh Sahi, the Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), said a terrorist came out of the three-story administrative building and took position with the soldiers. "He was wearing a camouflage dress of the CRPF. He was aiming towards the building where our forces were also aiming," the officer told NDTV.

When an officer turned to a soldier to hand over more ammo, they spotted the stranger aiming at the administrative building - a man they hadn't seen before and didn't remember positioning there.

"When our assistant commandant along with his one sub-inspector and one inspector was going to give the ammunition to one of their companions, who was firing from one of the vantage positions, they saw that one man in a CRPF uniform aiming towards the administrative building and thought 'we haven't placed a man there... How come he's there?'"

The officer continued, "They suspected him as they hadn't placed him there. Then he gave them a sign asking them to come forward."

The CRPF personnel noticed his uniform closely and realised that he was not one of them.

"The moment he turned his AK 47, they fired on him and neutralized him then and there," said the CRPF officer.

The three terrorists were killed after nearly 10 hours of gun-battle. Pakistan-based terror group Jaish e Mohammed's "Afzal Guru squad" has claimed the attack.

Mr Sahi said the terrorists were better trained and motivated than attackers in the past.

The Jaish e Mohammed is believed to have sent over two dozen suicide attackers or Fidayeen, who crossed over to India through the Jammu sector in August, sources say.
