Yes there is at least one case study that I know of. During the time Israeli military commander Ariel Sharon had first taken over command of the Israeli settlement areas. One of his seniors told him "Aarik, I've read all the books there are about counter-insurgency and there is not a single case study where insurgency has been brought down using violence", and Aarik said "come back in 3 months" and when the senior came back, there was complete peace.

Punjab was different and similar at the same time. But it's better to focus on key differences first

1. For one, the state had nearly 50-50 split in Hindu-Sikh population, nearly equally distributed. That too its difficult to say if Khalistanis enjoyed wide spread support among the Sikhs throughout the state.

2. Despite Blue star and 1984, Sikhs remained a key part of our military and civil society and post Sant Longowaal murder, Khalistanis started losing traction.

3. Khalistan was not propped up by a pan-Sikh movement worldwide unlike the pan-Islamic terror that we see today. The terrorists were almost entirely drawn locally, even if they sheltered in Lahore. Moroever, hardly any SIkh from US, UK, Canada et al were to be found trying to travel to liberate Khalistan. All support notwithstanding,
there were unlikely to be Napaki jihadis trying to cross the border everyday to strike in India. So once the local support was targeted and neutralised, Pakis could only do as much.

4. Punjab was and is much more deeply connected with the rest of India.

These are but a few points.

But, this is not to say that Punjab was a bed of roses. It was not. Growing up in 80s with little news coverage, even a small child can recall the horrors of those days, you couldn't open a newspaper or switch to DD news without being informed of how many lost their lives in a district in Punjab.

I know it's not their mistake , GOI should take steps to stop this brainwashing once and for all . Imagine when these guys grow up they are going to follow the steps of the burhans and the Sarbazs ,then the children after them are gonna follow, it's a damn cycle.

When you're born in de-facto war zone; there are more chances that you join it rather go against it.

For common civilian in war zone only means that it is his living. First he starts will scolding things around... Then starts cursing... Then learns that participating in non lethal way i.e., in procession for food...
Soon some of his friends and family dies either because of their fault or not... This way of living turns into anger...soon finds a gun in his hands....it is only matter of time he dies but the question is how much havoc he caused before his death matters...

Currently Kashmiris are in the state of living though some had found gun and dead too...

Pakis are hoping to convert all of them to hold guns thus GoI would leave Kashmir valley for good...

Things are moving at faster pace, so is ability of Pak to fund it....

The real question is whether Pak will have ability to fund the insurgency post 2019 or not!!??

The good news is as soon as Pak stops funding, insurgency dies down... Pak aim is to make Kashmiri to continue its war against IA even in the absence of funds from Pak....

God...to me 2019 seems the answer until and unless something happens out of blue...

Hate is such a strong emotion that u are ready to kill urself only to saw whom u hate destroyed before u .
Pakistan never stop it unless we destroyed it , it's hate towards India is due to a reason(our pan national identity) that give us our identity , so we can't sacrifice it , so their hate will find channel to flow ,either in kashmir or anywhere else , and they already show they can sacrifice national sovereignty but not terrorist asset .(CPEC World bank fiscal policy).
By 2019 Pakistan still have CPEC money , and they are ready to sell land to China against debt so no lack of money by now , we will continue to fight it ,getting POK will not kill insurgency ,killing pakistan only can

I think it is great and right time to abolish Article 370, which I think is the main reason these Abdullahs, Muftis, Hurriyat Swines and Muslims the so called minority Community which is majority in reality are milking and sucking Indian taxpayers money as well as blood like leeches and hollowing like termides. The main reason why I am saying that, because looking at the current situation which is already so much deteriorated, what else can happen after abolishment of Article 370.


Once these (Abdullahs, Muftis, Hurriyat Swines and Muslims the so called minority Community) Hyenas and Mad Wild dogs realizes that they are equal to other Indian citizens and other Indians also can come and have their share of resources, there mind will also automatically come at its right place which is right now in the lap of ISI and hafeez saeed.


My opinion is getting more support from the fact that the Porkistan is on the verge of Declaring Gilgit Baltistan its Fifth Province, so why shouldn’t Indian Government take proactive measures and declare the LOC the International Border and Abolish Article 370 and Settle this dispute once and for all.


I may be wrong at some point but isn’t this is right time to take a call.

Comparing Kashmir with Punjab is ok, but incase of Punjab we made sure to shutup Pak, I doubt we could do the same incase of Kashmir.

One more thing is Pak musalman wasn't sure of Sikh khalistan will be with them. But they are sure that Kashmiri musalman will join them.

My point is Kashmir's "Azzadi", for years our govt fail to take decisive action in kashmir , in many mosque those mulla preach hate after Friday prayer against community irrespective of area , but my point is about kids , if u remain spoiled in ur adulthood then we can blame it on them and other external factors .
These children not gone through same childhood as most of the Indian . Also I believe that sensible kashmiri , who can actually analyse what happens in valley is more practical and less islamic then hydrabadi-bangladeshi muslim , because unlike later Kashmir kids have not such luxury in their childhood to think of fantasy like "islamic india".
