The Porsche Macan SUV has been discreetly launched in India at a starting price of INR 1 crore (ex- showroom Delhi). The sub-Cayenne SUV from the Stuttgart-based sportscar manufacturer is positioned as a lifestyle product and promises more exclusivity than the Audi Q5, Mercedes ML Class and BMW X3.

The Porsche Macan has been launched in India at INR 1 crore.
The India-spec Macan is available with two engine options. The base variant is the Macan S diesel which is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing 258 PS (254.3 bhp) and 580 Nm of torque while the top-end Macan Turbo is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 petrol pumping out 400 PS (394.3 bhp) and 550 Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to a 7-Speed Porsche PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Macan Turbo can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds while the Macan S diesel achieves the same in 6.3 seconds. The Porsche Macan for the Indian market comes with standard features such as ride height adjustable air suspension system, all-wheel-drive, interior lighting package, bi-xenon headlamps, electrically operated tailgate and 3-Zone automatic climate control. The Macan S diesel is priced at INR 1 crore and the Macan Turbo petrol variant retails at INR 1.1 crore (both prices are ex- showroom Delhi). The global success of the Porsche Macan has left the carmaker struggling to plug the demand-supply gap. It is said that Porsche India has already found buyers for the allocated number of units for the year 2014.

After having shown the car at the Auto Expo earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz today launched the CLA 45 AMG in India. The CLA 45, which happens to be the company's entry-level AMG model, is priced at INR 68.5 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The car is imported into India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.

The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is powered by a 2.0-liter engine.
The CLA 45 is powered by a 2.0- liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine capable of producing 355 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, also making this motor the world's most powerful series production four-cylinder engine. 0-100 km/h in the CLA 45 comes up in 4.6 seconds and the top- speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Power is sent to all wheels using Merc's 4MATIC system and a 7- speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission. The CLA 45 also comes with an AMG sports steering wheel and gearlever, carbon-trimmed interior, three- stage ESP with Curve Dynamic Assist and aerodynamic bumpers with carbon-fiber trims. The CLA 45 AMG doesn't have competition as such in India, as Audi doesn't sell the S3 (an indirect rival) in India as yet. BMW do not have a sedan on the current 1 Series family. With the launch of the CLA 45 AMG, Mercedes India's AMG lineup includes the E 63 AMG and CLA 45 AMG saloons, the SLK 55 AMG roadster, and the G 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG and ML 63 AMG SUVs.
