MOBILE INTEGRATED NETWORK TERMINAL (MINT) FOR INDIAN ARMY UNDER AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT ABHIYAAN

  1. Robust communication support has always been a key enabler of combat potential of the field army. Advancements in communication technologies have facilitated solutions which can be adapted and customised as per operational requirements to give a distinctive winning edge.
  2. To this end, the Indian Army is in the process of procuring Mobile Integrated Network Terminal (MINT) systems under Make II Category of DAP 2020. The system is envisaged as a lightweight, portable, state of art integrated communication solution with satellite backhaul and wireless access system to support voice, video and data. Post evaluation of response submitted by the Indian Industry, a total of 11 (eleven) firms have been issued with the Project Sanction Order on 12 March 2021 for development of prototype. The Contract will subsequently be placed with one of the firms on successful development of prototype as per provisions of Buy (Indian-IDDM) of DAP 2020.
  3. Development of MINT systems will enhance the operational communication capability of the field army in consonance to the self-reliance vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” for Defence production.

Is OTA being closed? What will replace it? also what's shifu's MITTI system?
I think it was OTA Gaya that they were planning to shut down, since it was running below capacity.

Shifu is a fraud that has been called out by the Indian Army itself. Please don't fall for his B.S. like MITTI system or whatever the heck nonsense he comes up with.

UPDATED ON MAR 15, 2021 10:53 PM IST

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a corruption and criminal conspiracy case against 17 Indian Army personnel, including five Lieutenant Colonels and two Major-ranked officers apart from six others, in a recruitment scam at several Service Selection Board (SSB) Centres.
The agency teams on Monday carried out raids at 30 locations across 13 cities including the Army’s Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment Area, residences of several accused in Bhatinda, Kapurthala, Kaithal, Palwal, Lucknow, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Guwahati and Jorhat, CBI Spokesperson R C Joshi said.

Among the officers named in the CBI First Information Report (FIR) are - Lt Col MVSNA Bhagwan (presently on study leave), who is also the alleged mastermind; Lt Col Surender Singh of 31 SSB centre North; Lt Col YS Chauhan of 6 Mountain Division Ordnance Unit; Lt Col Sukhdev Arora - Directorate General Recruiting; Lt Col Vinay (Group Testing Officer- Selection Centre South Bangalore); Major Bhavesh Kumar (GTO at 21 SSB, Kapurthala) and Major Amit Fagna (422, Field Hospital, Delhi Cantt). According to the CBI, all of them facilitated the selection of the candidates at SSBs.

The central anti-corruption agency registered its case on March 13 on a complaint filed by Brigadier (Vigilance) VK Purohit from the office of Additional Directorate General, Discipline and Vigilance, Adjutant General's Branch, Army Headquarters. It is alleged that on February 28, 2021, input was received about the alleged involvement of serving personnel in accepting bribes for the clearance of review medical exam of temporarily rejected officer candidates at Base Hospital, New Delhi.

It is alleged that bribes in lakhs were paid to the officers and their relatives/family members through cheques, cash, RTGS, UPI, for the selection of candidates.

For example, an undisclosed amount of bribes were received from 10-15 candidates by Lt Col Surender Singh and Major Bhavesh Kumar through their relatives who have also been booked. The CBI has named Major Kumar’s wife Devyani, father Surender Kumar and mother Usha Kumawat as accused as well in the scam for allegedly receiving money.

Similarly, Lt Col Surender Singh’s brother-in-law Bhupender Bajaj and one Pragati Singh received bribes on behalf of Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh, another key player in the racket.

Apart from senior ranking officers, other army personnel named in the case include Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh; Havildar Pawan Kumar; Naik Parwinder Jeet Singh; Sepoys Kuldeep Singh and Rohit Kanwar; Havildar Rajesh Kumar and Havildar Harpal Singh; Lieutenant Navjot Singh Kanwar and Cadets Inderjeet and Hemant Dagar.

The Army said in its complaint that there is sufficient evidence of culpability of civilians and service personnel as the recipient of bribery. It said that to take the case to a logical turn so that the accused do not go scot-free, the matter is given to the CBI.

There was no statement from the Army on Monday.

Indian Army Orders 4,960 MILAN-2T Anti-Tank Guided Missiles
The Indian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for supply of 4,960 MILAN-2T Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) to Indian Army at a cost of INR 1,188 crore.

This will further boost the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government. It is a ‘Repeat Order’ of contract, which was signed with BDL on March 08, 2016, the MoD said in a release.

Induction is planned to be completed in three years.

While the Milan was first produced in the ’70s, the Milan-2T is of more recent vintage– it was developed as a counter to ‘reactive armour’ in the ’90s.

The Milan-2T is a Tandem Warhead ATGM with the range of 1,850 metres, produced by BDL under license from MBDA Missile Systems, France. These missiles can be fired from ground as well as vehicle-based launchers and can be deployed in Anti-Tank Role for both offensive & defensive tasks.

Indigenous light choppers get go-ahead, delivery in 2022
India is going ahead with an indigenous light utility helicopter (LUH) after it proved it worth during high altitude operations, including at the Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) airstrip on the China border. The defence ministry has given the go ahead for placing an order for 12 of the choppers, with developer and manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics NSE -1.37 % Limited (HAL) expected to deliver the first by August next year.

The LUH is a homegrown success story, having demonstrated its capability of operating in all kinds of environments, with a focus on high altitude missions that are essential for maintaining troops on the Pakistan and China border.

HAL Chairman R Madhavan told ET that the letter of acceptance for 12 helicopters – six each for the army and air force – has been received and work has started to produce the aircraft. “The LoA has been received and we plan to deliver the first helicopter by next year. The production facility at Tumkur is ready and we will manufacture the choppers there,” he said.

The LUH order is a boost for the Make in India initiative, given that the chopper has been fully designed and developed in house by HAL, borrowing on the expertise gained by older platforms like the Advanced Light Helicopter.

While 12 helicopters are to be ordered in the first lot, the expected requirement of the LUH within the services is pegged at 185. In addition, India and Russia have also been negotiating a deal for the Kamov Ka 226 helicopters for the army and air force to fulfil the large needs of such type of aircraft.

The LUH will progressively replace the Chetak and Cheetah helicopters that operate at impossible heights on the border, including the Siachen glacier. Given its new design, the LUH can carry more than eight times the meaningful payload to the highest helipads in the world, as compared to the Cheetahs.

The indigenous chopper has gone through rigorous trials and tests by the services, including at forward helipads on the border. These include test missions from Leh to both the China and Pakistan borders. It has also demonstrated a flawless flight from Bangalore to Leh, a distance of over 3000 km, in three days without any servicing issues.
